More towers joined the team.

Over a course of a few months, maybe 6 or maybe more, DJ really wasn't keeping track, a significant handful of people were recruited. They got weirder and weirder as time went on. One of them was a...gladiator of some sort? DJ didn't know. He thought his sword was dope, though. He did prove to be quite useful in battle as well!

Some notable guys caught DJ's eye, like a sick looking dude named Accelerator, who had a fucking particle accelerator as a damn weapon, and a pretty quiet guy who was absolutely cloaked head-to-toe in red (DJ couldn't recall the guys name, but from what he heard, he was really weird. And he was another cliff tower...Mortar was fairly shocked at that).

Another interesting one was a guy named Crook Boss (which, holy shit, this dude was scary). DJ usually steered clear of that man and his goons when they walked through the base. He seemed like a neat man, but the freakish, sharp grin he had on his face most of the time really made DJ reel back from interacting with him.

DJ was needlessly amazed. Commander seemed to scoop up the weirdest goddamn guys and DJ was absolutely enjoying it. He loved seeing some new faces pop around here and there.

Alongside that, DJ found himself becoming quite close with Electroshocker. He was a little nuts, but honestly, DJ liked it. He was hilarious sometimes. Mortar was fun as well, nearly equally as funny as Electro. He had lost count of how many times Commander yelled at the three mid-meeting because one of them said something stupid and it cracked DJ up. DJ had those stupid, loud laughs that made it impossible to stifle. He was told frequently that it was very infectious, but clearly Commander didn't think that way (evident by the amount of times Commander scolded him for laughing at inappropriate times).

DJ was pretty content with his life. The whole team seemed to like him! A few towers, namely the newer ones, like a nervous wreck named Freezer, came to him a couple times to ask simple questions. It reminded him of when he first began. It was sweet.

Things were going actually pretty well. Battles were going smoothly, people enjoyed DJ's music, the whole team generally got together as some peculiar family.

However, Commander was still very distant, he never showed up for dinner and was only seen outside of his stuffy office on occasion. His strict behavior never wavered. His behavior didn't deter DJ in any way — he always stayed determined. All DJ could do was offer more assistance when Commander would have needed it and he was usually the one to drop his meals by his office when Commander was too stubborn to get it himself.

As mentioned, he rarely saw Commander out and about. Rarely. There was one instance that came to mind when DJ thought about that.

DJ was well aware they had a very, very strict curfew. The one time another tower got caught, they made sure to never do it again. And DJ did not stop hearing about that story, usually coming from Scout, who was Commander's biggest support. So, of course, Scout always sucked up to the leader, meaning he was the one telling 'horror stories' (which honestly only spurred the bad behavior even further).

As much as DJ respected Commander, he wasn't all that innocent either. In his youth, he snuck out a lot, most of the time sneaking to a party he was definitely not invited to. That act of deviance still bled into his older years, which is how he learned to be so sneaky — well, sneaky enough considering his huge frame.

A few, maybe twenty...or more, times, DJ would sneak out of his quarters to hang around the lobby or grab something from the kitchen. Whenever he'd occasionally bump into another tower, it became a mutual agreement to zip it and never mention it to anyone. It was an unspoken team code: don't let Commander find out.
