She was quiet. Wrapped in the enormity of her thoughts, the primary of which was telling her to run like hell. That was all she wanted. To run away from this as if it were plague. But she couldn't run from the one problem that had the power to alter her life. She was overcome with the sense that she'd lost control, not just of the situation, but with her life. It was chaos. She thought of Drew, and what he'd think of all this. Inwardly, she smiled. He was likely to be just as scared as she was. She liked that about him, she mused. It was good to know she wasn't suffering alone in her feeling of helplessness. It wasn't that she didn't want the baby- in fact it was quite the opposite. A part of her was excited to be pregnant again. But another part, a darker part in the back of her mind, kept chiding her and telling her that they were trying to replace the first child they lost. She tried to keep thoughts like that at bay, but sometimes they flooded her mind like a tidal wave. These thoughts, along with more self-deprecating ones, came along the most when she was depressed or contemplative.

She shook her head in an attempt to rid herself of all thought. Now wasn't the time for thought, now was the time for action. The first thing, she thought as she pulled herself up, would be to tell Drew. She brushed herself off, and took a good look in the mirror. Her skin was more colored this time than it was the last time she was expecting. That was good. After a careful inspection, she decided that, apart from her red eyes, she looked like her usual self. It was a step up from how she felt. She sighed. She supposed she ought to tell her husband now. After all, she deemed herself enough of a wife to-

Her thought stopped short.

Wife. She was somebody's wife. They'd only been married a month, but she had trouble adjusting to the realities of being married. The title of "wife" was something she could have ever pictured herself fitting. It just never occurred to her that she could find love that deep. In fact, she never pictured herself finding love like that at all. For all of her life she'd only ever attracted dim-witted guys who's IQ were as large as their penises were long. An unexpected fit of hysterical giggling threatened to come over her. She shook her head. No. There were no other men now. Only him. She went downstairs, and went up to him. She put his hand on her stomach, and didn't make a sound.

At first he looked startled, shaken. As if there had been an avalanche of conflicting emotions hitting him at once. When he looked at her, however, his face had changed completely.

His eyes lit up like Christmas, and suddenly she knew everything would be alright.

The next month was a flurry of vomiting, doctor's visits, and prenatal vitamins. She hadn't had time to really take it all in. One minute she was plotting with Drakken to keep up appearances, and the next she was at her first ultrasound. The doctor squirted some blue jell-like goo onto her pelvis. She flinched when it made contact with her skin. It was cold. The doctor moved the machine around to just the right spot, and it was then that she saw the baby.

And suddenly, just like that, her entire world view turned on it's head.

Their child was beautiful. There was no question about it in her mind. She could only just see the profile, but she knew. She could tell. It was then that it really hit her that this was real. It wasn't just a plus sign on the test anymore, or a picture in her head. This was her baby. And suddenly, it dawned on her that she would die to protect this child. The technician moved the machine an inch to the left and suddenly she saw something- something she would have never thought she'd see in a million years.

It was another head.

"Congratulations, Mr. And Mrs. Lipsky, you're having twins."
