One way lead to death, one way lead to letting the entire alien race knowing where Earth was and thus killing the human race. I knew this was a big deal for Erik, he was brilliant at strategy but when in checkmate, he went very angry, he would kill like crazy just to get his mind off it. Obviously he wasn't that bad but it did get out of hand at some points. Once he flipped the table and Philip and I had to clean everything up. Ender was silent, she was probably thinking of ways to get out if the situation but she barely ever mentioned any, that or she just didn't care but in this situation, I knew she cared. I was just thinking of a way to blind the aliens. If there wasn't any heat or light then they wouldn't be able to track us, but with the constant EMPs that was pretty hard to do. Announcer opened communications.
"Hey kid, I've got a plan"
"Hit me"
"You got a few friends?"
"Yeah why?"
"I need their names quickly"
"Ok, um, Erik with a k, Ender, Akina and Winston with an I"
"Alright, I'm adding them in the conversation"
"Why what's the plan?" I saw four more people flood my screen
"We're taking out that big ol piled of hydrogen" Announcer seemed really happy
"How are we doing that?" Akina asked casually
"Fusion right?" Erik was on the same wavelength
"Six way should be enough" Announcer was flaming with joy
"Should be?" Winston sounded anxious
"Chance says we might not have enough power but it's better than nothing" Announcer wasn't one bit worried about it but I guess that's the kind of attitude you need
"You're suggesting taking out a sun with the strength of a doomsday ray?" Ender asked, she looked relieved that we had a plan
"Yep" Announcer pushed a button on his arm and all of us slowly joined together but so did something else.
It could have been an alien but gladly it was something else. There was Philip in an incredible mech. Sethra had joined in as well. I wasn't sure about an eight way fusion but oh well, we needed more power as well. Who knew that a mech could have eight heads, seven swords and an ak-47 with missiles on the back and the size of the enemy spaceship times two. We got on with the plan. I messaged all of the mechs and told them what was about to go down. The aliens let off another EMP but it didn't effect the omnipotent mech they saw in front them. Seven swords became one that was imbued with the strength of a missile and the speed of an ak-47. All mechs began to speed up setting coordinates for Earth (we need a new home soon) and blasting off. But before the alien species (who seemed to be paralysed in fear) could track their destination, the lights went out. Their sun's hydrogen was sucked out of the dying star and into our mech which we propelled it with. The eight mechs slowly drifted apart but two of them stopped in place. Philip and Sethra looked over at us. Me and Erik contacted Philip.
"Phill, what are you doing?" I tried to sound as casual as I could be
"Well I didn't find out until a few days ago, but apparently my mech bursted with radiation as the head came off" He sounded peaceful
"You can't die now" Erik watched his mech
"Hey Erik?" His voice grew softer
"Yes?" I didn't know if Erik was beginning to cry or not
"Under... The tree" Erik seemed like he knew what he was talking about but I was confused
"I got it" Erik looked at the mech
"Thank... You"
Communications closed but Sethra told me one last thing
"Sorry about.. The EMP"
"Forgave you months ago"
They drifted in space hand in hand, the two lovers fell into a dark sleep. I stopped and had an awful thought and hoped it wasn't true. I got back on Earth and Erik knocked on my hotel room.
"Come in"
"Here's a gift from Philip"
"No way! A prototype?"
"Yep, a small one too"
"Did you get one?"
"Yeah, watch this"
At the push of a button, sheets of metal began to surround him and form a suit, which began to gain more metal but Erik stopped it just before it got too big for the apartment. I looked over at mine, it was wrapped up neatly and had a note on the side.
"I've got to go now, elder wants to see me"
"A promotion?"
"Probably"
"Good luck"
Erik left and I opened the little note.
"To my closest friend, I hope this note find you well, by the time you are reading this I have probably passed away but due to the alien invasion I think-" odd, the note had been torn apart precisely, whoever did this needed either sharp nails or had a bad time with a pair of scissors.
Inside I found a watch with three switches on it: time and day, mech or chat. I was surprised about how well it was made, it had three modes: old, modern or holographic. I set it to modern since I like 3-d and tested to mech. A shock went through the my body and metal plates appeared out of nowhere. I had flight gear on it so I opened the window and jumped out before I gained too much metal in my apartment. The suit was like an exoskeleton, it was the size of a human and felt great, slowly it gained more metal and grew in size. During my flight around the city an alarm went off. It was the human evacuation alarm, sirens going off, people kept on yelling that this wasn't a drill. All army members were to head to the mech bays and gather their mechs. I had a thought for a second, the only way for the aliens to know Earths location was if someone told them. Have we been betrayed?
