Chapter 6, A Faliure

"So, how are you?" Philip looked at me with a grin
"Hey let me get this straight, you work for Price?" I slowly turned to Alonzo, I whispered "could you scan him for me?"
"Already done mate, his signatures are still human but half Price" he had a worried expression
"At least be respectful, don't just come in here and accuse me of working for an alien organisation, it's just not fair" he lifted his index finger and a loud rumbling noise came from all around us, he flicked his fingers and the room began to form cracks
"Sadly, if help is what you want, it isn't what you're going to get" Sethra looked at us happily and raised her hand "kill them"
"Stop, do you want anything we can give you?" I looked at them worryingly
"Of course, your lives or your," he pointed to me "watch" Philip looked really menacing
"The 'present'?" I slowly looked at it and wondered wether or not I should do what I had in mind "can't you make more"
"Would if I could, but I didn't make it" he looked at Alonzo to inspect him "but it seems you're the only one with the tech"
"The tech?" Alonzo looked at Philip but he wasn't aware of the thing behind him
"The one that only few mechs have equipped, the instant gatherer" Sethra's eyes light up
"Oh, do you mean-" I pressed the button "-This!"
Metal formed around me and attached on to my armour and grew bigger until I was too tall for the room
"Yes I mean that, and thanks for becoming bait" she whispered into Philip's ear
"What do you mean by bai-" an EMP blasted through the room and shut down the mech I was in and I felt a saw go through the side of the mech, slowly but surely the blade got closer until I began to feel pain in my side and after a while all I heard... Were lots and lots... Of loud... Screams... Calling... Out... My... Name... And a... Flash... Of... Red... Light...
I heard a loud noise and I opened my eyes, I had aches all over and a massive pain in my chest "was that all a dream?" I looked around the room I was in "huh?" It has polished white marble and light blue stripes like energy running through, it was a fairly large room with a few computers on one side and fancy rooms on the other "Hello!?" I heard slow footsteps walking towards me "well well well, it seems our little hero has woken up" the old man slowly walked to where I was
"By the way, you can get up"
"Thanks, but where am I"
"You're welcome and also you're in Syngro industries"
"But wasn't I fighting a war?"
"Correction, you're ancestor was fighting a war"
"What?" I was heavily confused at this point
"Short story, we send you back to reenact events that you ancestors did so we can get information"
"Ok..."
"And now you have just returned because either you did an event wrong or you were killed or you experienced a glitch, I'll look further into it for you"
"Um.. What do I do now?"
"Well we're done for today so just head back to your room"
"Ok"
I was more confused than what I began with but I guess I'm here now so I think I'm just gonna go back to my room.

5 minutes later

Well it's better than I though, nice bed, nice bathroom and I think I should just go to bed, there isn't really much I can do.

In the morning

"Joel, get over here!" The old man reminded me of my name
"What is it?"
"Well looks like you're going back in"
"No, are you serious!?"
"Of course I am, now go back in"
"No, it almost killed me last time!"
"It didn't really"
"What about the pain"
"Eh, side effects"
"Side effects!?"
"Calm down, put it this way, next time failing isn't an option"
"What"
"Next time if you make one mistake and don't do what your ancestor did then you might as well say bye to the world"
"If I refuse"
"You don't have a choice"
"If I succeed"
"You get to leave"
"Ok then"
I walked towards the machine, I lay down and I heard the loud noise
"Activate!"
All of my vision was taken up and I saw a world begin to come to life and then it began.
