Chapter 5 Fever Visit

It's now Saturday, the first day me and Sam get to hangout the whole day! I will be bringing my dog Jasper with me since Sam wanted to meet Jasper for the first time and play with him at the Orchid Park. But sadly, it has been muddy the whole week at the park, since it has been raining, so that means Sam can't play with Jasper, i told Sam about that already but she still wanted me to bring Jasper, i did and it's still possible since we'll be walking at the side of the street.

I asked my mom if I could go. "Yeah, sure sweetie, don't forget to bring an umbrella!" I think Jasper is more excited than me, he's been running around and can't wait to get out.

We made it to Mr. Jones' house, Sam's dad, since she has been living there since the divorce... It is also a bit close to ours actually, i mean we both live on the same street and the one who moved out was her mom. But I don't want to talk about that right now.

I knocked.

Knock-knock

"Hello? Is Sam maybe in there? She invited me here to hangout." i said, as i was waiting outside for someone to open the door.

"Oh! You must be Lucy? Samantha has been telling me about you lately." I nodded.

Samantha? Talking to her dad about me? I then felt butterflies in my stomach after that.

"Samantha! A friend is here to hang out with you! Sorry dear, Samantha has a fever right now, but you can come inside and i can make you coffee." said Mr. Jones. I think?

"Oh, if that's so, I can come back another da-"

"COME IN LUCY!"

I heard Sam from upstairs. At first i really thought i was at a random weird guy's house but never mind, after what i thought, i felt guilty. Then I saw the Red Thread again leading up to their stairs, i handed Jasper to Sam's dad and asked if he could hold Jasper for a minute and he was fine with it.

i followed it and Sam's dad was just looking at me with confusion, but i continued to look for Sam's room. Is this Sams doing? Or is this fate? I found her laying down on her bedroom floor.

"Why the heck are you on your floor?" i asked.

"Heh... i was trying to get to you since i heard a bark and thought that must be Jasper...?" said Sam, she looked pale and definitely has a fever.

"You shouldn't have, you have a fever right now, and don't worry, Jasper is downstairs, your dad is with Jasper."

"If that's so... Then okay! May you help me get to my bed though? Sorry about this..."

"No, it's fine, I'm sorry for the fever you're having right now, i shouldn't have convinced you to play soccer while it was raining."

"It's okay, i had fun anyways!"

I nodded with a smile and helped her get up and lay down at her bed. I asked why she didn't message me that she has a fever. "Well... I still wanted to see you here of course, sorry if i wasted your time."

I looked at her with a worried face and told her it's ok and then Jasper suddenly came up the stairs, i introduced Jasper to Sam. He immediately liked her already!

After a few minutes of talking, i still kept thinking about the red thread, and wanted to ask Sam about it but i noticed Sam was already asleep, we didn't do much this afternoon but i was happy to see her but also sad because she has a fever, i really wish her a fast recovery, i wish i can stay for a while but my mom messaged me to come home already, well i guess it's time for me to go, i went down stairs and told Sam's dad I'm going home now. "Sure, thing kid, have a safe walk home."
