It's the next day, and Roman just got back from work. It's around 4 pm.

"I need to go shopping," I mumble as I look in my almost empty fridge.

"Let's go to the store," he says from next to me, where he's looking in the cabinets.

"Alright. We'll take my car," I say as I close the fridge.

I head upstairs to grab my keys. We then leave my house. I make sure to lock the door behind me. We walk over to my car and climb in. I drive to the nearest grocery store. We get out and head inside.

"I'm craving something sweet," he says as soon as we enter.

"Go get us something. I'll be in the food freezer section," I tell him.

He nods and walks off. I head to where I said I'd be after getting a cart. I reach it and start looking at the types of freezer foods.

I'm eyeing a bag of popcorn chicken when someone bumps into me.

"I'm so sorry," a deep voice says.

I look up to see a very handsome man around my age. Maybe a couple of years older.

"It's alright," I tell him.

He smiles when he sees me.

"I wasn't paying attention," he says.

"Don't worry about it," I tell him with a friendly smile.

"I'm Dylan," he says, holding out his hand for me to shake.

"Virgil," I tell him as I shake his hand. "I apologize if this is weird, but you are really beautiful," he says.

I smile softly but am uncomfortable for some reason.

"Thank you," I say softly.

"If you don't mind, maybe I could get your number?" he asks while rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

I open my mouth to tell him no, but I feel someone wrap their arm around my shoulder.

"Hey, baby. Who's this?" Roman asks me.

I look at Roman. He smiles at me, and I get what he's trying to do.

"This is Dylan," I say, gesturing to said man.

"Oh. I see. I didn't realize you had a partner," Dylan says, a bit disappointed.

"Yeah. This is Roman. My boyfriend," I tell him.

"Right. Well, it was nice to meet you," he says and smiles at us before walking off.

"Thanks," I say as he pulls his arm back.

"You seemed uncomfortable," he says.

"Yeah. Not sure why. At this rate, I'll never find a partner," I say a bit sadly.

Partly because I'm worried, I'll be alone forever and partly because I want so badly for Roman to be my partner.

"Don't say that. You'll find someone. Likely when you least expect it," he says with a soft smile.

"Thanks," I say again. "Did you find something sweet?" I ask.

"Yeah. Ice cream and I got your favorite," he says, showing me the tub of peanut butter cup ice cream.

I smile at him. He puts it in the cart, and he helps me choose some freezer food. Then we go to different aisles to get other stuff. Soon we're paying and leaving the store. We head outside and load up the car before climbing in. I drive back to my house, and we take everything inside.
