"VELARIS," Nesta screamed her name as she saw her being held by Hybern soldiers.
The three Archerons woke up to Hybern soldiers on top of them—forcing them to leave their manor and taking them to their king.
"Let her go," Nesta yelled, her eyes filled with rage and hatred as she noticed the bruises on Vel's arms—her daughter's arms.
"Nessie," Vel sobbed as she collapsed in Nesta's arms when they were put in a cage together with Elain.
Nesta held Velaris tightly as the girl sobbed in her arms while holding Elain's hands.
The girls tensed as they heard the sound of footsteps. Nesta closed her eyes, putting her cold and calm facade on.
"Well, well, well," the queen laughed in mirth, "the whore and the viper stuck where they belong—a cage," she sneered as delight at seeing them cramped together in a tiny cage like animals.
"What do you want," Nesta's voice was sharp as she held herself together for her sisters.
The queen pouted and crouched to their level, "I wanted the young whore to feel at home."
Nesta frowned in confusion and anger at her words.
"I mean, where does a whore belong," the queen smiled brightly, "being used by men."
The queen nodded to the guards behind her who seemed to brighten in anticipation, opening the cage and ripping Velaris from Nesta's arms before locking it again.
And Velaris Archeron's screams as she was ruthlessly assaulted by Hybern soldiers will forever be imprinted in Nesta's mind.
Velaris felt numb. At some point, she just...stopped being there.
Velaris has been used by men many times in her life but this—this was her breaking point. Velaris was broken into so many little pieces, that it was impossible to imagine her soul was once intact.
Elain was quietly sobbing, the gag soaked with her tears. Nesta, hair disheveled as if she'd fought like a wildcat, was panting as she took the fae in. Took in the Cauldron.
And Vel—Vel was supported by the guards as if she wouldn't be able to remain standing on her own, her nightgown completely torn, her body on full display to the guards that held her. Her thighs were smeared with blood and bruises coated her entire body.
Her eyes were empty and unfocused, and the sight of her—it was worse than hearing Elain's sobs. It was like Vel's soul left her still living body and the sight of that was utterly terrifying.
Nesta stared at Vel the whole time Feyre and Ryhs talked to the king. She couldn't seem to look away from her bruised body.
And for the first time in her life, Nesta Archeron truly broke down.
