It was a hot summer day when Bella said goodbye to her parents for the summer. She was going back to her hometown where her grandmother still lived, hoping to reconnect and have fun with her grandmother.
However, she wanted to surprise her with some waffles. So, Bella went to Saint Waffle, the best waffle cafe in town, but she ran into her arch nemesis, Jenna.
Jenna worked at Saint Waffle. The reasoning behind their rivalry is Jenna's history of bullying Bella, all throughout elementary school. From throwing eggs at her house, to spreading rumors about her.
Bella set foot on the light rail, her low rise rip-off Vans clicking under her heel. She found an empty seat by the door, and sat quietly in it. As the metal wheels of the train screeched in dismissal, she turned around, resting on her knees. She waved at her parents as the train slowly took off, the squeal of the wheels growing quiet.
Her mother followed the train as far as the station allowed her, waving and screaming her declaration of love. Bella let out a breath as she returned to a normal sitting position. She stayed quiet amongst the plenty of adults around her that stayed clear of her way.
It was unusual, to say the least. But what made her raise her brow was how no one looked quite like her.
