Part 53
The next morning you and Josh woke up for a long flight back home. You packed your suitcases and got ready to leave, you and Josh didn't speak to each other ever since yesterday, he didn't even kiss you goodnight, he always faced away from you when you were sleeping. You didn't want the relationship to end with Josh but now you felt awkward around him:
You - we have to speak to each other sooner or later
Josh - I know
You - say something useful
Josh - can't think
You - are you mad at me
*silence*
You - ok then
You had no idea what to do, Josh didn't wanna talk to you and you felt so weird around him, maybe your mum was right, he isn't right for you. You finished packing your suitcase and someone came up and took them to the taxi for you. You and Josh were alone in the room:
You - why are you mad at me?
Josh - I'm only trying to look after you and you don't appreciate it
You - I don't think kidnapping is really looking after me
Josh - this isn't working out
You - what isn't?
Josh - us, what happened, we were so perfect and now we're drifting apart
You - what's wrong with us?
Josh - I dunno, maybe we should, I dunno, stay friends
You - you're breaking up with me
Josh - well it would be better if we're just friends, maybe in the future we could try again but I don't think we're ready
You - ok then
Josh smiled and gave you a hug and walked out the room, you felt like crying, that was it, no more (y/n) and Josh, you couldn't believe after all you went through that this is how it would end, you knew the flight home would be awkward, deep down inside you knew that this was the right thing, but your heart thought it was a mistake. You went downstairs to see Josh sitting in the taxi, waiting for you, he would usually wait in reception for you or hold the taxi door open but today was different. You got in the taxi and the driver went to the airport, it was dead silence throughout the whole journey to the airport. The taxi parked outside the airport and you got your bag, usually Josh would offer to take your bags or help you but today he just grabbed his and walked inside, you grabbed you bags and slowly followed him inside, you got your tickets for the flight and started to board the plane, when you were getting on the plane Josh sat down and you sat next to him, he would usually ask you what seat you wanted but he didn't. The plane started to move and Josh was about to put his headphones in but you didn't let him:
You - can we talk
Josh - about what?
You - about us
Josh - what about us?
You - don't you see, we were all happy and chatty and sweet to each other and now we are awkward and silent and weird to each other, I don't like it
Josh - what am I going to do, I wanna stay friends but this part is always going to be awkward, its going to take some time before we are proper friends again
You - I guess you're right
Josh - see! One step at a time
You - alright, friends?
Josh - friends!
You and Josh hugged then he put his headphones in and started listening to music, you couldn't stop thinking about what happened, all so fast.
