EVANGELINA
—————————

When I woke up, my head was not laid on the pillow but rather on something else. More like someone.

My head was placed on Asahi's thigh. His hand was in my hair. He was sound asleep, sitting on my bed while I was lying by his side with my head on his lap.

My breaths were even and my heart was in a strange way, at peace. I didn't move but rather stayed quiet and closed my eyes again. The light from outside showed that it was still very early in the morning.

Taking a deep breath, I got closer to him carefully and snuggled myself into his warmth. The memories of last night were still fresh and I didn't want to be alone.

At least till he wakes up, I can let myself be at ease.

When I woke up again, I was the only one in the bed. My body was covered with the blanket and the inhaler was close to me. Well closer than I was keeping it before. Now that I remember, Asahi pointed out last night that he placed it there.

He was here when I woke up earlier. He helped me. But why?

The room is quiet and the sun is shining through the windows. Tugging the cover off me, I stretched my arms and rubbed my face with my hands. My eyes still felt pretty swollen. Did I cry so much last night? I couldn't really remember everything exactly as it happened.

All I know is that I had the horrible memories come back and then I had a panic attack. Asahi helped me and that's all I have in my head.

Nothing else.

I swung my legs over and tried to stand up. The floor was cold and a wince left my lips at the chill wood underneath my feet.

The door slowly started to open and my eyes immediately flew in that direction.

It was Asahi.

The tray in his hands was filled with food. He was dressed in a casual outfit that consisted of a white t-shirt and black sweatpants. His hair was disheveled, unusual because it's always styled. Then his eyes. The look they held, it was exhaustion. It looked like he hadn't had any sleep at all.

He moved with slow steps and made his way over to me.

"Here's your breakfast." He spoke with a more gentle voice. The tray was placed on the nightstand, while he walked to the armchair and lowered himself on the seat.

"I'll go to the bathroom first." He nodded his head and on shaky legs, I dragged my tired body to the other door.

I tried to avoid the mirror as much as I could, but when I accidentally caught sight of my reflection, my shoulders dropped.

The dark circles under my eyes were back, my hair was a disheveled mess on my head and my face looked paler than usual.

Just when I thought that I was getting somehow better.

After I did my business, washed my hands, and face, and brushed my teeth, I opened the door and stepped out.

Asahi was still here, his head was in his hands and his elbows were resting on his knees. When he heard me come back, his eyes immediately found mine.

Sitting back on the bed, my stomach felt empty but I just had no energy to eat.

"What happened last night?" Asahi's voice made me turn my head away from the food.

I shrugged my shoulders. The memories felt like a dream but I know it was real. I remember Terry, he was very much real. He was my pet. My friend. I don't know how it was possible for my memories to vanish for a certain amount of time.
