"Jessica Flair." Someone called.
"Jessica Flair!" This time louder and firmer. Someone on my right nudged my ribcage and I jolted awake from my nap and jumped in my seat. I turned beside and saw Ron looking at his worksheet, holding back his laughter. Then I looked up at the teacher standing in front of the classroom, scowling.
"Jessica, your grades have been dropping and I hope that you can put in more effort." Mrs Tonelli, our Math teacher scolded for the hundredth time of the year.
"Yes, sorry Mrs Tonelli." I said trying to get it over and done with. I never liked Math and I will never understand it with her teaching method. I rubbed my swollen, tired eyes. My eyes were still red and painful from all the crying.
"Okay, class ! Listen up ! I've got good news for all of you....there will be two new students joining our class," she said as she made the hand gesture toward the classroom door. A guy and a girl maneuvered into the classroom and stood beside Mrs. Tonelli.
The guy had his left hand in his pocket, and is carrying a black backpack over his right shoulder. He has thick dirty brown hair and sharp-angular face. His eyebrows are on fleek and his eyes are dark with mystery. He gave me the impression of a bad boy the moment he stepped in, as he had his right earlobe pierced and he's chewing on gums.
The girl has red wavy hair and she wore a white singlet and ripped denim jeans with a maroon converse high-cut, carrying a black crochet sling bag over her shoulder. She has long wavy copper-red hair and beautiful green eyes. Her fair skin, along with some tiny freckles, made her eyes stand out even more.
She's got that boom boom that all the boys chase, and all the right junk in all the right places.
"Wow Jess! Maybe it's time for you to repay my kindness. I've helped you a lot with Richard and you should help me with this red head." He commented, half serious-half jokingly.
"How about you two introduce yourself to the whole class? " Mrs Tonelli turned to the two new students, but asking the tall guy instead.
"I'm William Walters, you can just call me Will. I was from Italy." He introduced simply. Mrs Tonelli then smiled at the girl as if to grant her the permission to speak next.
"Good morning everyone," the red-head started. "My name is Abigail Adler and you can call me Abigail or Abi. I just moved here from Santa Monica, California. I used to study in Santa Monica High School and now here I am, Midwood High School. I hope to know you guys well and it's my pleasure to meet all of you." She said politely as she smiled genuinely at us.
"Alright, I can ask Rosie to help as well. But you have to continue to help me and Richard.. You know, things are even harder now..." I trailed off.
Ron shrugged his shoulder and gave me a 'okay, I don't mind' look. He is always so casual when it concerns the relationship of other people. Not that he did not help, but he just got so nervous and freaks out all the time when he has a new target.
William took a few steps forward and sat down on the seat that is nearest to the blackboard while Abigail took a seat next to him. Those are the two empty seats available in this classroom.
Nobody likes to sit near the blackboard as Mrs Tonelli would accidentally spit saliva when she speaks. Always. As disgusting as it sounds, the boys in our class joked that whomever sits that has to use an umbrella in class. Therefore, I've never liked seating in front.
I always chose the seat nearest to the wall on the left. While Richard would sit all the way to the right, probably due to Dayah's sabotage. All thanks to her. I've been known as the stalker all along, and now what? A loser? How did they even get together? I've always thought I'll have a chance with Richard. But now that the chance is as slim as Dayah's legs, I'm starting to lose hope.
