Chapter 9
I chose the longer route home as there were more lamp posts along the street. I quickened my pace, feeling paranoid despite the brightly lit lamp. I knew better that a teenage girl like me should not be out alone walking down the silent street at this hour.
Even though it was only 7p.m, the sky was pitch-dark and there was no one around. Creepy. I rarely even go out alone by myself.
I clenched my fist instantaneously as i heard footsteps behind me. This is when I realized I was still holding that piece of paper.
Using this chance, I walked a little bit out of the pavement and threw the crushed paper in a trash bin as to see who was behind me.
If the person behind me did not had the intention of following me, surely he would be on the pavement, overtaking me.
It was a jogger who ran past me on the pavement, and I almost burst out laughing. Why am I so paranoid? Haha, silly me.
Heaving a sigh of relief, I continued walking down the street. As I walked, everything came flooding into my mind. I kind of regretted throwing that paper away. That was a note from Richard, specially for me. But I was so angry that he did not keep his promise.
What a liar. I waited for him for so long, thinking that we could spend the day together. It could have been way better than how it turned out now.
Why did he have to play a prank on me? Tears sprung out of my eyes. Yes I like him. A lot. But that doesn't mean he can do this to me.
Maybe he forgotten? Or maybe he had urgent things to attend to? He probably didn't do it on purpose. I can't help but find excuses for him. I lowered my head, feeling utterly disappointed and ran home. Tears continued to roll down my cheeks.

I woke up to the burning sensation I felt on my feet. Furrowing my eyebrows, I sat up and crossed my legs. I squinted my eyes as the bright sunlight shone into my room and my bed. Ouch, my eyes hurt, probably swollen as well.
I grabbed my phone and check the time. 1.30p.m. Wow. Anyway, last night I've already planned not to go to school today. How am i gonna face Richard? It's not like anyone cares.
I pulled my fizzy hair together and twisted it into a messy bun, then sauntered down the staircase. The house was quiet. I forgot my Dad and Mom were on a business trip.
I dragged my feet to the kitchen and opened my fridge.
I took out a packet of cheese pasta that is ready to eat. I warmed up the food in the microwave for three minutes.
As I waited, I poured a mug of orange juice and set it on the coffee table in my living room. I switched on my television and rushed to the kitchen once i heard the beeping sound from the microwave.
I brought the food and utensils to the living room and sat on my couch, flicking through the channels but there were no good shows that interest me.
I jabbed my fork into a piece of ham and cheese pasta and stuffed it into my mouth. The pasta was dry and tasteless but somehow I managed to finish it. I swallowed the last mouthful of food then settled my plates back on the table and headed for the kitchen for snacks.
