Tick Tock Blow up the Clock

I never realized how much of a golden retriever peeta really was until I was sitting on top of the cornucopia watching him circle around the small island asking everyone if they were alright and then sitting with them for a few minutes.

Finnick, Johanna, Katniss and I were all on lookout duty while Beetee and wiress came up with a plan. I took the high ground since I was the most likely to pounce on someone. We were going to take a poll but all fingers pointed at me when we voted. I'm not complaining though.

"Wiress your a genius! It's a clock!" Katniss exclaimed loudly from one of the bridges connecting the cornucopia island to the surrounding land.

It took everything in me not to say I already knew that days ago but I decided I would just keep that to myself for now. Maybe I'll tell them once we're out of here and drunk at a party in the capitol. If we ever got out of here.

Katniss and wiress reached the cornucopia and joined peeta and finnick who were conversing. Katniss imedeately began explaining the different hours and how they only occurred within their wedges and I just tuned her out and watched Wiress sing her little mouse song.

It had a calming effect over me and I almost found myself smiling until Johanna made a racket climbing onto the cornucopia and sitting down next to me.

"You already knew didn't you." She claimed. It wasn't a question and she knew she was right but I answered anyway.

"Yes."

She sighed deeply but did not hold back on her firm words of advice. "If you tell them there going to fight you. Katniss doesn't trust any of us and she will think your plotting something. Your good at taking things to the grave anyway. Physically and metaphorically."

She slid off the cornucopia and joined the others in there endeavor of figuring out each hour of the clock.

I refocused my attention on Wiress and she was still singing her song. I was so tempted to join her and even let out a few notes of the tune but my calm feeling was washed away by a horrified look as gloss emerged out of the water and stabbed her.

I flung my trident into his chest but I was much too late. My trident did not land in a fatal spot so I kept off the cornucopia and onto gloss launching him under water.

Once I strangled gloss and he floated to the top dead and unmoving I clambered out of the water unscathed.

"One and two! Gloss is down!" I screamed at the top of my lungs lunging at Brutus who was about twice my size with half my agility.

Finnick joined me in taking him down while Johanna and katniss took down cashmere and enobaria.

It was almost too easy. We had the upperhand and there were more of us than them. They were easily overtaken despite their skill.

I felt a lurch in the rocks beneath me and moments later the lurch wasn't just a lurch anymore.

"We're spinning!" I hollered at everyone just in time for the dead tributes to go flying. Thankfully the entire group managed to grab a hold of something sturdy so none of us would go flying.

I had my trident wedged in-between a rock closer to the cornucopia so I didn't feel as much of a pull from the spinning but I could hear the struggles of my companions and the only thing I could think to do was block some of the rubble and baskets from flying out and hitting them.

I took probably dozens of blows to the head from crates and baskets flying out but at least they weren't hitting the others. It would only be a minor concussion.

Eventually the spinning stopped and I released my trident but was to exhausted to move or comprehend any noises around me. I wasn't asleep. Or was I?

"Y/n!" Someone shouted but I didn't move. I couldn't even if I wanted to.

"What's wrong?" That was Johanna.

"She got hit with something. Her head is bleeding but she managed to hold on. Is Katniss alright?" That was Finnick's voice.

"Yeah she's good." Johanna answered.

The next thing I was conscious enough to recognize was being turned over and water being splashed over my face.

I gasped and shot up spraying the water out of my mouth. An imedeate throbbing sensation erupted in my skull and I hunched over coughing the water out of my lungs because apparently my mouth was hanging open when they splashed my face with water.

Once my vision cleared I saw that we were no longer on the island near the cornucopia and we were now on the beach.

"Who dumped water on me?" I asked angrily as I scrambled to my feet stumbling over the squishy sand before regaining my balance.

Johanna raised her hand and I began charging at her. She let me tackle her to the ground because she knew good and well that I was only going to dig my finger into her secret tickle spot until she started crying out of laughter.

It probably looked like we were fighting each other because of the grunting and rolling around in the sand but hey, it's just another show for the capitol.

Once I saw tears in Johannas eyes I let off claiming victory in the tickle battle. I hold the advantage of not being very ticklish. Only one person knows my secret tickle spot.

I walked back to the others and joined them as they were quietly eating. I got a few looks of confusion from them but I just looked back at them in confusion and that settled it.

For the next few hours I cleaned the crusted blood off of my trident with coarse sand waiting for something interesting to happen. I realize now that I would rather come up with a plan on my own or not help with a plan at all so I just sat and listened in a little hole I dug in the sand. I'm pretty sure the only reason they let me hang around was because I can kill a lot of people but also Finnick would kill them if they killed me. Oh well. At least the plan is working.
