                      Chapter-3

Evelyn's pov

Today's the day, I was wearing a skinny jeans and a white tank top with my blue cardigan and my hair tied up I hope i looked responsible. Today was Saturday so I had nothing to do except for  cleaning the house which I had done already I carried my only purse and left not without checking on my mom I was doing all these for her and dad wasn't even interested In supporting us he said we are a waste of money such a pathetic guy thinking about him makes me sick.

I stopped a taxi surprisingly it didn't take forever. I gave the address. the drive was long so I took a nap. I quickly woke up when the driver said we were there I paid the fare.

 The gate was huge I bet this gate could pay the rent of my apartment for 10 years the gate men looked at me from head to toe liking their lips I wanted to slap them but I'm not that type of bold girl and by the way I'm here for a job interview I told them I was here for a job interview and they opened the gate for me I saw a line of girls standing, waiting to be interviewed most of them looked like they were here to be his mistress. But wait we are supposed to be here by 9:30 it's 9:27and this is a long line I wondered. I joined the line.

"It's nine twenty nine they may as well start now" one of the girl with blonde hair said. Her voice was very irritating 

"Her voice is irritating right?" A black girl in front of me said I nodded not feeling comfortable talking to a stranger 

"Name's lizzie yours?" She introduced herself extending her towards me to shake 

"I'm Evelyn, Eve for short" i shook her hand 

"Are you lizzie for short or"

"No am just lizzie my mom named me lizzie she says it's short and simple. I get asked that a lot" she laughed 

We kept on discussing i later discovered she's 20 and she just moved to new York because she got a sport scholarship in havard.

The line kept decreasing and the girls kept coming back pissed off lizzie was being interviewed a few minutes later she came back smiling I assume she got the job I mean I'm happy for her but i really needed this job so I went in with hope.

I saw a woman in her 50's I guess, 

I greeted her and sat on the stool that was placed there for the people to be interviewed

"My name is Rosa yours?"

"My name is Evelyn finn" I smiled 

"Well Evelyn how old are you?"

"Am 19 going to twenty December 24th" I said laughing at the thought that I was born on Christmas eve 

"Wow that's lovely, why do you want this job?" She exchanged her lovely tone to a serious one.

"Well because I need the money to be able to give my mom proper treatments" I smiled sadly 

"Okay. Do you have experience?"

"No but I always clean my apartment very well before I go to school" i said trying to reassure her 

"Well this house is bigger darling"

"So I guess am not getting the job" I looked down sadly trying my best not to cry

"But I'll try to make an exception am only supposed to hire one person I'll see what I can do to help give me your contact information, I'll call you if my boss agrees okay" I gave her my number 

"Yes ma thank you" I stood up and left immediately I saw lizzie waiting for me 

"Hey are you okay?" She looked worried

"No am not,.you seem rich and all am sure you Don't need the money but me I do my mom's dying, everyday am trying my best to look strong and tough in front of her but it breaks me inside to see her like that she now looks worse than her shadow and I have no hope I'll get the job. I can't bare this anymore I know what I'll do I'll sell my kidneys!"I cried out I realized I was shouting I looked up at her to see she was just staring at me I guess she thought i was crazy.

"Am sorry for snapping at you like that" I looked at her in an apologetic way.

"It's okay you needed to let it out, em do you need a ride I could drive you home"

"Thank you" I was about to get in her car when a black car stopped near me and the glass was whined down 

"You're hired both of you, you can start tomorrow 5am sharp be here" then he whined up the windows and entered the mansion 

Realisation hit me hard. Elevator guy that's where I ran into him Jesus! He's my employer oh no no no no I was rude to him that day, what will I do?. 

"It was xavier, we're both hired can you believe it, now you can afford your mom's fee" lizzie kept jumping and squealing 

Xavier's pov

I came back from France immediately. It turned out that it was all a setup by umar to attack me again. I needed to rest. I entered the black kia sportage that came to pick me up. The drive was long so I started working on some important file on my laptop when I heard a girl

" am trying my best to look strong and tough in front of her but it breaks me inside to see her like that she now looks worse than her shadow and I have no hope I'll get the job. I can't bare this anymore I know what I'll do I'll sell my kidneys!" This girl was crazy but what was more crazy was the fact that I've heard the voice before.

"Victor whine my window down"

Victor whined it down it was the bold girl the one who had the guts to tell me to beat it in my own company. This is interesting without thinking I spoke. 

"You're hired both of you, you can start tomorrow 5am sharp be here" then I told to victor to whine it up and he drove inside I got out with my suitcase and headed inside the mansion 

"You're back home early, well I have something to discuss with you" she said looking guilty what could she possibly want to tell me

"If it's bad news forget about it I'm tired"

"No it's about the maids" 

Did she have a problem with me hiring 2 maids without her permission when she had already hired one then we can have three maids not bad

"It's not bad if we have three maids" I said eating the plate of casserole she made

"Wait what do you mean?"

"Isn't about the people I hired outside just now" I was confused did i just make a fool of myself by saying you hired to someone that was not here for the job 

"No I__ wait you hired some people outside just now" she looked shocked as hell

Now am sure I made a fool of myself

"Yes one was a black girl and another girl with a blue cardigan I think"

"Oh good i had already hired the black girl I was gonna ask you to make an exception but it's okay anyway, eat your food am sure you must be stressed I'll fix you a warm  bath" She smiled then left 

I continued eating my food but images of the girl with a tear stained face kept appearing in my head even that state she looked so beautiful I took my bath and slept hoping I would stop thinkimg about her but who am I kidding the images kept appearing.

Awnnn I feel so sorry for Evelyn (sniffles) anyway now she got a job that pays her good money let's just hope her mom recovers
