We sat in the tree, not even making the smallest of peeps. We couldn't risk being caught, even though I was positive that even if someone did find us, they wouldn't be able to climb the tree to tag us.
He was the first to speak. "Why are you hiding in my tree?" He asked me. I shrugged in response.
"I was running away from a person who was on the drum line and I hid up in a random tree. I'm sorry. I'll leave." I apologize, bracing myself to take the climb down the tree.
"No!" He exclaimed, which stopped me right in my tracks. "You can stay here if you want. It's safe." I nodded my head in agreement and pulled myself back up onto the branch I was sitting on previously. "So what do you wanna talk about?"
"Do you think it's a good idea to talk? We might get caught." I responded, crossing my legs over each other and leaning it, trying to get comfortable on the branch.
"Nah. No one ever comes out to look this far, and they never bother to look in the tree line." He told, attempting to get even more comfortable than he already was. "There's something bugging you, Lauryn. You know you can tell me."
I sighed. I knew becoming friends with people might end up with them actually caring about my feelings. I cared for my friend's feelings too. I always felt bad when I yelled at my cat. I knew Bobo's feelings, and right now, I could feel Jet's feelings.
"Why doesn't Cadence like me? I try to be nice to her, but she treats me like I'm a thorn in her side." I told him, looking down. Even with my hair up, the hair surrounded my face. Was I ashamed of emitting this to him?
"I don't believe Cadence hates you. She just doesn't like you because I spend so much time with you. She was like this when Savannah and I became close friends as well."
"So she's just naturally jealous?" I asked him. He nodded his head.
"It's getting to the point where I'm considering breaking up with her." He says, and I almost fell off of the branch for the second time.
"What?!" I sputtered out, my eyes wide.
"Yeah." He crossed his arms behind his head and leaned against the tree trunk. "She's too controlling and she wont let me hang out with any of my other friends that I have. Not even the guys." He responds.
I whistled. "Wooowwww..."
"I know! Plus there is a girl I was interested in. She's defiantly better than what Cadence is. I haven't even know her for that long!"
I knew he wasn't talking about me, but the way he was saying it made me believe it was me. I blushed.
"She's just so cool! She understands everything I say and she's super nerdy like I am."
My blush turned into internal anger and pain. Was this person better then me? Was she going to replace me? Why did I even bother with this?
"I bet she's quite amazing." I respond. He just looks at me, an emotion filling his eyes that I couldn't recognize.
"Yeah, She really is."
