I've been here for only two days, and I'm counting the days until I go back home. I've had to get up at 6 in the morning, then walk across the football field to get to the cafeteria. At 8, you had to be on the field ready to march in warm up block. The first day was filled with learning the basics of marching, like the step off and the stops and the steps we have to take. Honestly, it was tiring.
At 12, we had lunch, and that lasted an hour. We then had sectionals. Elijah, the freshman mellophone, and I were the only ones there. Well, the only ones beside a very pregnant lady named Terry. She looked like she could pop anyday, but she was still here helping us. She was too kind for her own good.
After an hour of sectionals, where we learned how to play the show, which was called the Dream Show, combining music from Les Mis, Dream on by Aerosmith, a few songs from Phantom of the Opera, and finally some stuff from Firebird. I was actually quite amazing, and in the third piece, I had a solo. I was so excited.
After sectionals, we had two and a half hours of free time. I have spent a lot of this time sleeping, maybe binge eating and watching some Fairy Tail, but I wasn't really the productive type of person.
Dinner was at 5, and an hour later, marching had stated up again. Olivia didn't want us marching during the middle of the day, so that's why we had such a big break. But hey, I wasn't complaining about it. At least I got to sleep a little more in the day. I was happy about that.
At 9, we were done marching for the day, but not done. We had thirty minutes to do whatever we wanted to do, then we had to meet up in the meeting hall and we did an activity. The first night, we had to write and preform skits about out instruments.
The Trombones won with a National Geographic skit called "Instruments in the Wild" where Trombones were the main predator. I had died watching it. I had actually fallen to the ground in my tears. It was the best thing I had ever seen.
We had a crappy thing where we were cops in search of someone who said they hated band. Seeing as we only had two of us, we were allowed to borrow people from other sections.
No body had bothered to tell us what tonight's activity was, just to wear dark clothes and bring a flash light. A few of the older people who have come here knew what we were doing, but refused to tell us. Violet said it was going to be really fun, but she didn't go into details.
I had changed into a pair of black leggings and a Black sweater, seeing as it was starting to drop in temperature. I didn't have any black shoes, so I had to wear my rainbow tennis shoes, since I didn't think flip flops were going to be appropriate for this activity.
"It's time to get going!" Ava shouted. Even though she was one of the youngest girls in the room, she acted like our mother. She made sure we were always on time, and she woke me up after my free time naps.
I grabbed my small flashlight and walked out of the room with the five girls I was sharing it with. They weren't that bad, and my dad smiled when I told him that I didn't mind them as much as I thought I was going to.
We all piled onto the elevator. It probably wasn't wade for the six of us, but we honestly didn't care about that. One trip is better than multiple, as my father would say as he almost broke his arms bringing in all of the groceries at one time.
It dinged at the bottom floor and we all exited before taking a right and leaving the hotel.
"WE ONLY HAVE ONE MINUTE TO GET THERE!" Quinn shouted after checking her watch. My hearted thumped. We couldn't we late. If we were, Olivia would make us all do extra laps tomorrow, and then we would be the most hated room for a week.
I took off in a dash, the five girls following close behind me. My lungs were burning and my legs felt like jelly. This is why I hated physical activity.
We busted into the room right as the clock hand had shifted. I fell onto a chair, panting heavily.
"You made it in the nick of time!" A voice exclaimed. I looked up and saw Jet holding a water bottle out to me, offering some of it to me. I grabbed it, opening my mouth and drinking the entire thing in almost one drink.
"Okay!" A feminine voice shouted out. On the platform stood the other two drum majors, Savannah, who played the flute, and Cadence, who was in the drum line. "We're going to be playing a game that I quite enjoy!" Savannah yelled.
"It's called Hide'n'seek."
