Dad walked in the next morning, abruptly waking me and Gavin up, telling us "Cassey, Gavin, get up. We need to talk, meet me in the kitchen.", he walked out without saying any more. I looked over at Gavin, smiling happily. He was the best brother ever, letting me sleep on his floor when I had a nightmare..We stood up to get ready to meet our father out in the kitchen.
                                  —
We met dad in the kitchen, walking side by side til' I decided to lean on the wall, confused by this strange sight, mother was crying while dad comforted her, rubbing her back in a comforting way, a cold look on his face. I looked around, Kirsten wasn't in the room.
"Wheres sissy?"

"Kirsten ran away."

I froze. Immediately turning my attention to dad, in shock.
I never knew how fast words could break me until the day I saw my nine year old self, standing there with tears streaming down my face as I faced the cold harsh truth.
Kirsten was gone.

"Stop crying!"

"Yeah, she just up and left. We don't know why."

Those were the words I heard on and on that day. I felt like a burden with crying, Gavin constantly glared at me.

The words broke me even more. As I turned from a happy, shy but loving girl, to a cold, IDontGiveAShitAboutAnything, depressed girl in the matter of weeks. The day ended slowly, everything after that day..Changed for the worse.
