Characters:
- Emma (A young woman watching the news)
- News Reporter (Voiceover)
- John (A mysterious figure)(Scene: Emma's living room. A television set is on, showing a news report about a local serial killer known as "The Butcher." The room is dimly lit.)
[Emma sits on her couch, engrossed in the news report.]
News Reporter (Voiceover): ...The small town of Elmwood has been terrorized by a series of gruesome murders, with evidence pointing to a cannibalistic killer known as "The Butcher." Residents are advised to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities to the authorities...
[Emma's attention is fixed on the television when suddenly she hears a distinct creaking sound coming from behind her. She turns her head, her eyes wide with fear.]
Emma: (whispering) Who's there?
[The room remains silent for a moment until John steps out from the shadows, holding a bloodstained knife.]
John: Oh, don't mind me. Just passing through.
Emma: (panicking) What are you doing in my house? Are you... "The Butcher"?
John: (smirking) The Butcher? No, my dear. They only suspect him, but I'm someone far more elusive.
Emma: (trembling) Wh-Who are you?
John: That doesn't matter, my dear. What matters is that you're all alone... vulnerable.
Emma: (steeling herself) I won't let you hurt me. I'll scream and call the police!
[Emma reaches for her phone, but John swiftly lunges forward and knocks it out of her hand.]
John: No, I'm afraid you won't be doing that. You see, I take great pleasure in the anticipation, the fear in my victims' eyes before the final curtain falls.
Emma: (terrified) Please, let me go! I have a family, friends!
John: (mockingly) Ah, the people to mourn your loss. But fear not, my dear. Your sacrifice will not be in vain. The legend of "The Butcher" will continue, as will the terror.
[John raises the knife, preparing to strike, when suddenly a loud siren blares outside. He freezes as the sound fills the air.]
Emma: (hopeful) The police! They're here!
[John hesitates but quickly regains his composure and disappears into the darkness.]
(Scene fades out as the sound of police sirens grows louder, bringing hope and safety to Emma.)
