A/N: Turning point for Touya? Finally? Ooooo?
"The area's been thoroughly evacuated," Shinya said, suddenly appearing next to Enji in a flash. "Now, we're counting on you to take this monstrosity down."
"No pressure," Enji replied sarcastically.
"Only your flames have gotten close to overwhelming it," Shinya stated.
"Yeah, but its movements are too fast for me to keep it in my fire for more than a few seconds. I could use Blueflame, but... it's risky. The excessive heat would severely handicap me, and if this amalgamation doesn't go down from it, there's no holding it back."
"I could slow it down for you."
"You would be too close to my fire. It would burn you alive."
"Then I'll just have to move fast." Edgeshot sped forward as the quirk monster charged at the two heroes, lengthening his body into a sharp edge as he cut through his target.
Enji waited until Shinya was out of range before blasting the large creature with his regular flames. He let his quirk die down when the monster zipped out of his sight.
Edgeshot pierced through the creature again, trying to keep it injured to give Enji another window to attack. The two heroes alternated their attacks, slowly wearing away at the beast.
The monster retreated backwards, its buggy eyes darting between the two heroes, before putting up its right arm, snapping its claw together again. The sonic wave shook the entire ground, breaking up the rhythm the two heroes had formed with each other.
Edgeshot shifted back to his normal form and stumbled backwards, stunned from the loud bang that made his whole head spin. He felt a harsh force make contact against his chest and was sent sailing through the air.
Enji activated his quirk, trying to pinpoint the monster that vanished once again. He felt a presence behind him but turned around too late, getting slammed face-first into the pavement. He groaned in pain, feeling parts of his body go numb. Enji surrounded his body with his flames, forcing his attacker back slightly, though he could hear the latter lunge forward again, not discouraged.
A spike of ice shot out of the ground suddenly, piercing straight through the exposed brain of the augmented beast. It shrieked and flailed, breaking the ice and pulling chunks of it out of its own head. Just as before, its injuries mended themselves right away.
"Oh, come on! That was a great hit!" Rei protested indignantly.
"Rei," Enji shambled up from the ground, blood dripping down his face. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Well, it's unlike you to take this long to finish a fight." Rei whipped an arm out in a sweeping motion, creating a circle of icicles to fend off the mutated being. "I figured I'd come check for myself."
"It's dangerous." Enji straightened up, trying to follow the monster with his eyes.
"No shit. You have an invincible lump of bullshit that moves faster than the eye can see. What exactly is your plan?"
"I'm gonna kick its fucking ass."
"Loving the details," Rei replied sarcastically, forming a defensive ice wall when she heard the creature charge from behind. The ice structure shattered as the creature barreled into it, sending the Todoroki couple flying in opposite directions.
Enji managed to right himself and stumbled backwards before planting his feet down on the ground.
Rei tumbled across the pavement, pushing herself onto her hands and knees as she growled indignantly at the augmented being.
