Chapter 7: The A_ter Party

Sean's P.O.V.

Somewhere in Antipolo

Darryl: Are you ready?

He asks.

We're sitting inside Darryl's car, parked in front of a big house somewhere in one of the better neighborhoods in Antipolo.

There's a bunch of rainbow coloured balloons tied onto the side of the gate which serves as the entrance.

About three or so days ago when Darryl asked me na samahan siya to this —sabi niya— "fun"party after our evening performance.

Sean: Why do I feel like I'm about to do something stupid —or scary?

He said na it's not like any party I have attended before.

*As if naman alam ni Darryl the type of parties I get invited to. Or baka naman he thinks he knows the parties I go to. Am I that predictable?"

Darryl: Puwede siya both. Pero safe ka dito.

*Not really the most assuring thing to tell me!*

Sean: That's usually how bad things start in movies.

I mumble as my attention is grabbed by a car that drops someone off just a few feet away from us. May guy na bumaba and went inside the gate immediately.

He shifts in his seat to turn his body towards me.

Darryl: Sean, dadalhin ba kita here just to endanger you?

He asks. Ramdam ko naman how sincere he is in his asking.

Sean: I reckon hindi naman.

I respond.

Darryl: But if ayaw mo, maka-habol pa naman tayo sa kanila sa Eastwood, you want?

Earlier after the Saturday evening show

We're at the dressing room after the evening performance.

Winnie pero tunay na si Wilfredo: Sean, sama ka ba?

Winnie asks while checking on the costumes hanging at the rack.

I catch Darryl giving me a quick glance.

Sean: I'm thinking about it.

I slowly tilt my head to the right to acknowledge what he's reminding me of.

Sean: Not so sure though.

I add.

Winnie pero tunay na si Wilfredo: Ikaw, Papa Dar? Free ka ba?

Winnie asks Darryl naman as he approaches the make-up table where Darryl and I are removing our make-up.

Winnie pero tunay na si Wilfredo: Witit walwal levels naman daw sa Eastwood.

Darryl: Don't know, Mama Winnie, kinda pagod na rin ako eh.

He reasons out.

Winnie pero tunay na si Wilfredo: Sure ka diyan?

*Hay naku, Winnnie!!! May krassss ka ano??? You have a crush!!! It's sooo obvious.*

Darryl: I'll think about it. Baka magbago isip ko but it all depends —waiting on a message lang.

The dressing room door swings open.

Clark: Winnie, you riding with me?

Clark is one of our tech people helping with the lights and is mostly in charge of the projections.
