Beanie Bob's
Scout Triangle Area, QC
11:48 PMDarryl: Teka, anong ginagawa natin here?
He asks as I pick a table outside the café.
Sean: We're here to observe.
I move to the table by the corner, one that has a clear view of the dimly lit but rarher lively street corner.
Darryl: I never figured you out for a night out person.
New night out spots have mushroomed further down the street after the pandemic. They're more open-air and outdoorsy operations. Effect na rin siguro ng COVID na they got encouraged to have more open space for inuman. The downside lang is yung noise pollution from the bands and the music they're playing pag nagsabay-sabay.
*Pero pag ganoon, not for me talaga. I like hearing conversations when I hang out. No tugz-tugz-tugz.*
Sean: Hindi naman talaga. That's more Joaquin's thing with sina Artie, Caleb, and Rusky.
I tell Darryl as I take my seat.
Darryl: So, you don't make sama pag they go out?
He asks, taking the seat across me.
Sean: Pag walang rehearsals and no hectic academic stuff due and nasa mood me.
I look around the general area within view. The location kasi ng Beanie Bob's, since nasa dulo, super dinadaanan ng mga people 'cause most of them park sa malayo then walk na lang to the places they wanna go to.
Sean: You see that?
I ask, my head is turned towards the direction I want Darryl to look at.
Darryl: Saan?
Sean: Hayun. Sina ate and that group there.
I point to the people gathered at the kanto across the street from the café we are sitting at.
Darryl: It's rude to point, Sean.
He casually reminds me.
Sean: So what, I'll use my nguso?
Sarcasm.
He laughs.
Odd laugh talaga, I tell you.
Darryl: Okay sige. Sina Ate. What's with them?
He asks while looking at them na rin.
There's a lady, probably in her late 30s na naka puwesto sa kanto selling cigarettes and candy.
I start explaining to Darryl.
Sean: Look at Ate there. Her puwesto is defined by that plastic stool and the shallow box with the candy and the yosi.
It's only eleven-something,
Sean: While that little boy with those roses na individually wrapped and tied with ribbons, probably sister niya rin yung the girl that just ran after that couple para bentahan ng roses that she carried away with her.
*While I do have a thing or two to say about child labour and minors in the underground workforce, these kids are equivalent ng mga nagbenenta ng sampaguita garlands outside Church, right?*
Sean: And that guy, probably around our age, the guy with the basket with the fried peanut packs on the side, you are supposed to play that guy.
That guy, siya yung gusto ko makita ni Darryl. Na-remember ko siya kasi bumili si Artie ng balut sa kanya before. Sabi niya pasalubong daw sa yaya niya.
