Melanie walked out of Ms. Krupp's office, feeling a slight hint of guilt. She tried to ignore it, thinking that getting into SmartiPantis Academy was the best for her, not some silly crush. Maybe I can try and forget about Heather.. I know! I'll try and get with Eric like I used to in 4th grade! Melanie thought.
The bell rang, and everyone left class. It was now lunchtime, and everyone walked towards the cafeteria. Melanie did as well, trying not to be seen by Gina and Heather. Unfortunately, she was. "Hey, Melanie! Come over here!" Gina shouted from afar. Melanie turned towards them, forcing a smile. Once she saw Heather smile back at her, her heart began to feel warm, but then ached a little remembering that she has to get her expelled. Why do I feel bad? It's just some stupid high school crush! Don't be so foolish.. Melanie thought to herself. Nonetheless, she couldn't just ignore them. She got her lunch and sat with the two. "Hey." she said, trying to act like everything's normal. The three began to have an average conversation, and the more fun they had talking, the more it hurt Melanie knowing that she has to betray them. Soon, lunch was over, and so was the school day later. Gina approached Melanie. "Hey, wanna hang out at our treehouse?" she asked, obviously planning another thing so Melanie and Heather can get closer. Melanie hesitated. "No, sorry. I'm busy.." she replied. "Oh, okay. Maybe tomorrow!" Gina said reassuringly. "Thanks." Melanie said before walking away quickly. That was close... She thought. She walked home, ignoring her dad's greeting as she walked into her room. She layed onto her bed, feeling guilty as hell. She began to regret to decision, but she didn't want to pass up an opportunity to go to her dream school.

The Next Day

It was a school day like any other, and the time flew by fast. It was already the end of the school day and all the kids rushed out, hurrying home or hanging out with their friends. Melanie ran out before Gina and Heather could spot her, and she had a plan set in motion. She was going to vandalize the whole school, and put the spray cans she used inside Gina and Heather's backpacks. She knew that this was a crime, but she also knew that Ms. Krupp wouldn't press charges and would only expel them. Ms. Krupp wasn't THAT mean. They were just teenagers, after all. She disabled all the cameras and waited until there were no witness around before she got to business. She spray painted the whole entire school with rude words and drawings, and some were just scribbles because she ran out of ideas. After she was done, she quickly ran off before anyone could see her. She then arrived at Gina and Heather's treehouse, and waited for them to leave for while. Once they did, she climbed up the latter and went inside. She quickly spotted their backpacks and went over to them. As she began to place the cans in the backpacks, she stopped. What am I doing..? This is wrong, even for me.. I shouldn't be doing this just for some top notch school. There are many other ways to get in there, but I only have one chance to be with Heather. This is the happiest I've been in a long time, do I really want to ruin it? Melanie thought to herself. Before she got the chance to back away, she heard voices from behind her. "That's crazy, who would spray pain the entire scho- Melanie?" Heather said. Melanie looked at Gina and Heather who were both standing behind her. She must've been so lost in thought that she took up too much time. "Are those.. Spray paint cans?" Gina asked, looking at Melanie in shock. "It's..It's not what it looks like...! You see, Ms. Krupp said I could get into SmartiPantis Academy if I help her get you expelled, so I was gonna frame you, but now I don't want to! I changed my mind because I like being your friend!" Melanie explained quickly. "You.. Wanted to get rid of us..?" Heather looked at Melanie, hurt and confused. "No..! I... Well, yes. But now I don't! I really like being your friend and I want you to stay!" Melanie said. "Why would you take the offer in the first place?" Gina asked, pissed off. "I.. It was for SmartiPantis Academy! You guys know I've been dying to go there!" Melanie replied. "We said we'd help you! And if you really enjoyed our company so much, you wouldn't try and get rid of us!" Gina yelled. Melanie looked at the two, not knowing what to say. "Heh, I can't believe I thought you truly liked me. And.. I liked you too, but I guess it was all a lie." Heather said, wiping away a tear from out of the corner of her eye. "I...I do like you...! I really really do!" Melanie said in a panic. "If you did, you wouldn't try to get rid of us, nonetheless her." Gina explained angrily. "Guys, please.." Melanie said in desperation. "Get out of our treehouse. Now." Gina said, pointing at the exit. "Gina, please, we can talk about this..." Melanie said. "NOW." Gina shouted. Melanie looked at Heather, who was beginning to tear up more. "Get out.. Please." Heather mumbled. A few tears feel down Melanie's cheeks. "Okay.." Melanie walked towards the exit, looking back at the two one final time. "I'm sorry." she said before leaving. "AND TAKE YOUR GOD DAMN CANS WITH YOU." Gina yelled out, kicking the spray cans out of the treehouse. Melanie picked them up, and walked out of their backyard.
