Hyunsoo got his broom upgraded into a spear that also zaps. We thanked Du-Sik and walked down. Since I now have my won weapon, I don't need to rely on Hyunsoo, but we need to watch each other's backs.
We made it to the elevators and he quickly took my arm and pulled me into one of them. He placed his finger to his lips telling me to be quiet. I hid behind the other door and waited in silence.
A claw banged right above my head making me jump and covered my mouth so no noise came out. The half-headed monster stuck his head through, looking around trying to find us. Hyunsoo took immediate action and stabbed it in the stomach electrocuting him. I quickly ran out, giving it a slice across the neck on my way. Once it had fallen, Hyunsoo ran out and down the hall. I followed him before the monster got up again.
He hid behind the wall and I stood next to him until the monster extended his hand into sharp branch like thing. I gave out a scream and fell down, Hyunsoo on top of me. The branches just kept on coming. Hyunsoo held me close until I heard everything go quiet. "Are you ok?" He asked, catching his breath and helping me up. I nodded as I opened the fan again and leaned up against the wall. "Now what?" I asked. He looked around and then reached for the shelves and got two bouncy balls and threw them. "What the hell are you doing?" I hissed.
"He's distracted, let's go." He said and ran out. I ran after him. He stabbed the monster right in the back, making it screech and I stabbed it on the side, also electrocuting it.
"Let's hurry and get the kids, we don't know how long he's gonna be out for." Hyunsoo said and made his way to the stairs.
No more monster attacked us on the way down. None on the floor the kids were on. I estimated where Hyunsoo's apartment was and that's where the kids would be.
I counted the doors and then stopped at one and knocked gently. "We're here to help you." I called through the door, "we aren't monsters, we promise."
No answer came so I just opened the door to see to kids on the floor hugging each other and sobbing violently. I placed my fan on the counter and rushed over to them, gently stroking them on their arms. "Please, help us." The girl cried, "please save our dad."
I went quiet and licked my dry lips as I swallowed back the lump in my throat.
"I'm sorry." Hyunsoo said gently, "but no one can survive on the 12th floor."
"Great way to put it Hyunsoo." I muttered to him. "Don't worry, there's a man on the 14th floor with lot's of food for us, he'll help you." I told the kids. "But we need to go out into the hall, how old are you two?"
The girl sniffed. "I'm nine, and my brother is six." She replied. I groaned mentally. Fuck.
"Those are perfect ages to be fighting monster." Hyunsoo said and I smiled at his words. "Don't worry, we'll protect you." He said.
"Are you ready?" I asked them and they slowly nodded. I took the girl's hand who took her brother's hand and Hyunsoo lead the way to the door. I grabbed the fan before he opened the door and we followed him out. "Now, you've got to be really quiet right now, can you do that?" I asked the kids and they nodded. I squeezed the girl's hand tight and followed Hyunsoo down the hall.
We got to the stairs, climbing up them and I ended up leading the way. I searched around every corner, waiting for something to jump out at us until I heard a bang behind us. Hyunsoo was leaning against the wall, panting for breath and his eyes squeezed shut. "Hyunsoo, are you ok?" I asked, running over to him.
"Take the kids and leave." He panted.
"What? What about you?"
He opened his eyes and they were fully black. "Take them and go!" He yelled as blood rushed down his nose.
