MEMORIES WERE THE MOST PRECIOUS things in a human's mind. They show you your history and the people who you hold close to your heart.
Cleo did not have any memories. She only knew her name.
"It's the only thing they let us keep." Newt told her when she first came up in the box. It was supposed to be a joke but, if you asked Cleo, it was depressing.
Her name was not all that the cunts who put her there let Cleo keep. Well, she is not sure if they allowed her to remember a pair of memorizing dark eyes and the warm touch of an unfamiliar boy, but she was glad she remembered it. Cleo's dreams were usually filled with him yet she never saw his face. Every time the box came up to the Glade, Cleo hoped that it would bring him up. But it never did.
She was the only girl in the Glade and she expected for it to be a nightmare at first. Cleo was there for a little more than a year and the boys have failed to make her uncomfortable. She figured it was because of Newt and Alby or because she spent a lot of her time glued to Gally's side. She was even close to the Keeper of the Runner when he was not running through the maze, trying to find a way out of their prison.
Cleo was not aware that her best friends had nothing to do with the respect everybody had for her. She got that all on her own. She proved to be a big part of their community by being the one stuck in the med-shack and patching up builders and runners alike. The blonde was kind and gentle and never spoke ill of anyone who did not deserve it. They were a proper family. It made Cleo realize that as long as you are around the people important to you, you can make anything a home.

Cleo is the sweetest soul ever and she must be protected. This book will break the stereotype of the boys in the glade being thirsty assholes cause it doesn't make sense since they're stuck there with no way out. I'd like to think they'd have more important things on their minds. Someone yelling "I call dibs" when they see a girl in the box is so unrealistic and my least favorite thing in maze runner books
Thomas and Cleo are my favourite Stydia and Percabeth variants
