It was a late night at the Nunez house or so they thought. Kiki had only woken up to get a glass of water because she felt her throat was getting dry. Just then she heard something coming from Enrique’s room. She walked up stairs and opened the door to his nursery, there was a goblin standing on the window still with Enrique in its arms. She charged at the goblin but it jumped out the window with the baby. Without thinking, Kiki used her magic to fly after the goblin and rescue her little brother. She suddenly sneezes causing her to fly back and land in a bush.
“Fuzzbuckets..” She mumbles as she stands up. She sniffles.
Kiki climbs back in her room and lays down with a groan. She knew she was sick which was bad. She grabbed her phone and informed the others that she got sick.
The next day in the evening Claire had informed Kiki that Jim was coming over to babysit Enrique. Kiki wanted to tell her about what happened the night before but knew she couldn’t and she was unsure on if she should tell Jim or not. Claire and Kiki both walked downstairs. Claire started feeding Enrique as Kiki leaned on the walls. She was still in her pajamas and her brown hair was a bit messy. Suddenly the door knocked and Jim came in.
“Hey Jim.” Claire greeted as Kiki waved. “I put his routine up on the fridge. After playtime, you just have to put him down. He’s a good sleeper.”
“On the fridge. No problemo.” Jim said and walked over to Kiki. He handed her a container of chicken noodle soup. “Here”
“Thanks.” Kiki says, her voice is a bit raspy.
Claire handed Jim her phone number in case of an emergency and told him not to call their parents since they don’t know that Claire is going to the concert. She heard her ride pulling up so she quickly got ready and made sure that Jim knew what games Enrique liked and that her parents won’t be back until ‘late’ late. “I’ll be two or three hours max.” Claire stated.
“More like four hours with an encore.” Kiki said, raspy.
Claire rolls her eyes.
“Get some rest sis.” She says before leaving the house. Kiki nods.
Jim walks over and starts feeding Enrique the rest of his food. He glances at Kiki who walks to the couch and lays down.
“So you got a cold.” Jim states.
“Prepare for magic chaos Jim.” Kiki mumbles causing him to chuckle.
Jim looks back at Enrique who is playing with the spoon.
“I’ll give you this much. You seem a little too adorable and drooly to be a changeling.” Jim says and points at him. “Hey, are you now, or have you ever been a shape-shifting troll-creature?” Enrique just babbles. Jim chuckles. “Oh, man, what was I thinking? You’re no monster.”
He wanted to double check so he reached for the horseshoe in his bag, but it was missing. He looked over at Enrique who was cooing at him. That was when he saw that the buckle on his baby swing was unclipped. “Wait a minute. You were buckled in a minute ago. This is supposed to be childproof. Where did you hide it? Speak.” Jim ordered Enrique.
Enrique just giggled as Kiki just shook her head in disbelief. Just then she felt a sneeze coming, “Jim, you… might... want to… duck!” she mustered out.
She let out a loud sneeze then a purple bolt of lightning fired out of her mouth and it bounced off the wall. Jim yelped and ducked as the lightning went outside.
“Oh boy.” He mumbles.
Jim got up and picked up Enrique. He put Enrique in his crib before he started searching for the horseshoe around the house. Even going as far as looking in the diaper bin. Kiki stayed on the couch feeling like she was dying from being sick. Jim went to check on Enrique after searching a bit but he wasn’t in his crib. Jim was now searching around the house for Enrique. Toby, Aaarrrgghh and Blinky were outside so Jim went out to grab the new horseshoe. When Jim tried to get back in the house the door was locked.
