In the grand celestial palace, the Supreme Deity sat on his radiant throne, his brow furrowed in frustration. The ethereal glow of the heavens shimmered around him, yet the atmosphere was tense. Surrounding him were the highest-ranking gods and goddesses, all tasked with one goal: finding the elusive Rimuru.
"Still no sign of him?" the Supreme Deity asked, his voice deep and booming, yet carrying a hint of exasperation.
A lesser god, fidgeting nervously, stepped forward, his golden scroll trembling in his hands. "N-No, my Lord. We've scoured the mortal realms, searched across dimensions, and even enlisted the Fates to weave their threads of destiny, but... nothing. Prince Rimuru’s spell is… unlike anything we’ve seen before."
The Supreme Deity sighed heavily, leaning back in his throne, a hand rubbing his temples. "Of course it is. My son had to be the one deity with a flair for making things difficult. Instead of sitting on his throne, ruling over his people, what does he do? Run off to play in the mortal realm!" His voice echoed with authority, but also parental exhaustion.
One of the goddesses, her form bathed in soft light, approached delicately. She was the Goddess of Prophecy, her eyes glowing with the knowledge of futures untold. "My Lord, I have glimpsed shadows of his whereabouts. He moves with the wind, leaving no trail. He is wrapped in a spell so potent that even I cannot fully see his path."
The Supreme Deity leaned forward, hope flickering. "But you saw something?"
She hesitated. "Only brief glimpses. Mortals flock to him, enamored by his... charm, if you can call it that." She smiled slightly. "He pretends to be some kind of demon lord among them, telling grand stories of his adventures. They do not realize he is one of us."
The Supreme Deity let out a groan. "A demon lord, really? Of all things, that’s the persona he chooses? Why not a king, or at least something respectable?"
A ripple of laughter echoed through the chamber, the gods and goddesses sharing knowing glances. Rimuru’s antics were legendary even among the divine beings.
Another god, the Lord of Mischief, leaned against a pillar with a smirk. "Honestly, your majesty, I kind of respect the kid. Escaping the marriage alliance you set up with the Goddess of Love and Beauty? That takes guts. I hear she’s already picking out wedding robes." He chuckled.
The Supreme Deity glared at the god of mischief, his patience wearing thin. "This is no laughing matter, Loki. That marriage is essential to strengthening the divine bloodlines. The boy is already powerful joining with the Goddess of Love and Beauty would ensure the stability of our realms for eternity!"
A wave of murmurs passed through the divine court. It was well known that the Supreme Deity had high hopes for Rimuru. His son's natural talent for magic, charm, and wit would make him a powerful ruler, should he ever stop avoiding responsibility.
"Perhaps," spoke up a god of wisdom, his robes trailing behind him as he approached, "if we appealed to him differently? A direct confrontation may not be the solution. You know how Rimuru is. The more you push, the further he’ll retreat."
The Supreme Deity rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "And what do you suggest?"
The god of wisdom smiled knowingly. "Why not... let him come to you? Send a messenger someone he respects, or at least can’t easily dismiss. Show him the benefits of returning willingly."
Loki chuckled from his corner. "Or bribe him with something shiny. Maybe a mountain of gold, or a vacation from paperwork?"
The Supreme Deity rolled his eyes. "It's not about bribery, it's about duty!"
But the Goddess of Prophecy, her voice soft but firm, spoke up once more. "Your majesty, perhaps the boy seeks freedom just as you did in your youth. He might return when he feels his own path aligns with the destiny you’ve planned for him."
The Supreme Deity’s eyes softened at the mention of his own rebellious past. He had been much like Rimuru once, wild and free, before duty had finally caught up with him. Could it be that his son needed to find his own way, just as he had?
He sighed, standing from his throne, his divine robes flowing like rivers of light. "Very well. We will cease our aggressive search... for now. But keep an eye on the mortal realm. If Rimuru makes a mistake, we need to be ready. And when he’s tired of playing, he’ll return. He’s my son, after all. Duty will call him back."
The gods nodded, and as the Supreme Deity turned to leave the chamber, a mischievous thought crossed his mind. "And send someone to remind him about the Goddess of Love and Beauty. Maybe if she visits him in the mortal realm, he’ll reconsider his little vacation."
As the gods dispersed, chuckling and shaking their heads, the Supreme Deity gazed out across the vast expanse of the heavens, wondering just how long his wayward son would remain hidden and what new tricks he had up his sleeve.
And somewhere in the mortal realm, Rimuru sneezed.
