As Rimuru disembarked from the plane, a small crowd of curious passengers had gathered, still buzzing from the larger-than-life stories he had shared during the flight. Seeing their eager faces, Rimuru grinned, feeling the perfect opportunity to stretch the tale just a bit further.
“Ah, so you want more, do you?” he said, leaning casually against a nearby pillar. His posture relaxed, yet his eyes sparkled with mischief. “Well, since I’ve already started, let me give you a little more backstory something juicy to chew on while you wait for your luggage.”
The crowd leaned in, anticipating yet another grand tale. Rimuru, ever the showman, let the moment hang before continuing.
“So, there’s this god of dreams, right?” Rimuru began, his tone far more conversational than the regal demeanor he’d used earlier. “Bit of a sensitive guy, to be honest. I mean, most deities are when it comes to their powers. Long story short, I may or may not have, uh, ‘borrowed’ an ability from him. No big deal, right?”
He shrugged, as if stealing divine powers was a common occurrence.
“But apparently, Dream Guy didn’t see it that way. Now he’s holding a grudge.” Rimuru chuckled to himself, shaking his head. “Honestly, it was such a small thing just a little dip into his dreamwalking ability. I was curious! But you know how gods are. Drama queens, the lot of them.”
The crowd laughed, imagining the scenario playing out like some sort of divine soap opera.
“Of course, my father wasn’t too pleased when he found out,” Rimuru continued, dropping the bomb with a smirk. “And, well… let’s just say he still thinks he can ‘discipline’ me. He tried to give me a stern talking to about ‘responsibility’ and ‘not stealing from gods.’ Blah, blah, blah. I didn’t listen.”
He leaned in, voice lowering conspiratorially, “Let’s be real—he probably just needed a break from me running circles around him.”
A young man in the crowd raised an eyebrow. “Wait, so your dad's a god, too?”
Rimuru nodded, eyes gleaming with amusement. “Oh, yeah. And he’s on a never-ending mission to make me settle down with some goddess of love. Can you believe it? He thinks that'll 'secure my future.’ Like getting hitched is gonna magically make me stop wandering around causing trouble. Yeah, good luck with that, Dad.”
The crowd erupted in laughter again, hanging on every word as Rimuru continued.
“Anyway,” he said, pushing himself off the pillar and adjusting his jacket with a casual flick, “I’ve got this foolproof spell that keeps me off his radar, so I’ve been enjoying this world for a bit. But between you and me—” he leaned in again, “—I’m starting to wonder if that god of dreams might send me a little nightmare out of spite. Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow. Who knows?”
He straightened, giving them a wink. “So, take my advice: if you ever run into a grumpy deity with a complex, try not to borrow any of their powers. And definitely avoid getting into family drama with the gods. Trust me, it’s more hassle than it’s worth.”
With a playful bow and a laugh, Rimuru turned and walked away, leaving the crowd grinning in amusement and still processing the wild tales he'd just shared. As always, he left behind a little mystery, a little laughter, and more than a few confused mortals wondering just how much of the story was real and how much was the fantasy of an eccentric traveler.
