Selena

In the morning Justin is gone and I really hope I've dreamed the whole thing. It's one thing for Selena to talk about giving me her nights but something else completely if she's shutting our husband out. Justin may not have a problem doing things that I've always seen as women's work but he should still be in charge of our family.

Every polygamist family is different in how they split time with the wives. I never did figure out my father's schedule, but it didn't matter. He was there when I needed him. I know in some families the husband just picks and chooses based on who his favorite wife is at the time, and that if you're not a good wife your husband might stop visiting you completely. But I've never heard of a wife refusing to see her husband.

One thing is for sure. If Selena really didn't let him in then I have to tell him what she did to my phone. She's out of control and something has to be done.

I get dressed and go downstairs. Justin and Hope are coming out of the kitchen as I reach the entryway.

"Charlotte!" Hope looks happier than usual, which I hadn't even known was possible. "Justin said I can have the baby here! And he's convinced my sister's husband to let her come to help!"

"Hooray!" I actually feel excited for her and she gives me a big hug.

"Oh, put your hand here," she grabs my hand and pushes it into her stomach. "Feel him?"

"Him?" I laugh. I can feel the tiny flutters and have to force myself to keep smiling. At this rate I'll never have my own kids. I love babies but...

"This means Rachel gets to come and stay with us for a while," Hope tells me. "I'm so relieved I won't have to be in the hospital," she finally lets go of me.

"I have to get to work," Justin gives her a little kiss and then turns to me. "See you later," he kisses me too and is out the door before I can say anything. I know I can't say anything to Hope about him staying the night but my head is spinning.

"Do you think Selena convinced him?" Hope asks.

"I don't know," I can't imagine that. "I did tell him if you had the baby here he could be there when it happens."

"Can you imagine?" Hope laughs. "A man in the birthing room!"

"My father was there when he could be," I shrugged. "Justin cooks and cleans, I don't know."

"You're right," Hope nods. "We got a good one, Charlotte," she looks at the door Justin just left through with a dreamy look on her face. I've never seen her look at Justin that way before and I have to tease her.

"You like him," I grin.

"Right now I do," Hope laughs. "Maybe it's the hormones. He usually gets on my nerves."

"Uhuh," I pretend like I don't believe her but I do and head for the kitchen. She doesn't seem to like it much when he pays attention to her.
