Graduation day finally comes. I'm getting dressed that morning and realize I'm actually a little sad to leave my new friends. Katie and Casey are both going away to school and I'm not sure how much I'll be able to see them over the summer before they leave.
"This is not a good idea," Rachel says as I walk into the kitchen. "It's just not safe."
"Sure it is," I promise. "You're my cousins, remember? You flew out to be here since my parents couldn't come and your husbands are back at home working. No one will think twice."
"It's so risky," Rachel shakes her head.
"People out here don't think that way," Hope promises. "Justin wouldn't let us do this if it were a bad idea."
"Wait, wait, I'm here!" Selena comes running in. "Justin wants pictures before you leave."
"Of what?" I laugh. My cap and gown are at the school, we don't get to keep them.
"I guess just of you," Selena shrugs. She starts snapping pictures on her phone.
"Will you please tell Rachel this is okay?" Hope demands.
"It's fine," Selena insists. "What are we talking about?"
"This is not a good idea," Rachel sits down. "I'll just wait here."
"No, you have to go and keep Hope company," Selena says. "It's fine, seriously no one will ever guess."
"Then why aren't you going?" Rachel asks.
"Because I'm famous and it would take all the attention off the people graduating which would be really rude," Selena smiles. She loves getting to remind Rachel that she's a celebrity because Rachel still doesn't really understand what that means.
"I need to leave," I glance at the clock. We're all supposed to be there early to get lined up.
"Okay, we'll meet you there," Hope waves me on. I hurry out to my car and drive to school.
My phone rings as I'm driving and I know I'm not supposed to answer it but I do anyway thinking it might be Justin.
"Is this Charlotte Allred?" the lady asks.
"Yes," I'm nervous immediately. What if something bad has happened?
"My name is Lynette, I'm calling from the Admissions office," she says the name of the university but I'm so relieved I barely hear her. "I'm just calling because your decision letter is due on Friday of this week and we haven't gotten anything back from you. I thought I would give you a call and see if you maybe had some questions I could answer to help you make your decision."
"Wait, I got in?" I gasp.
"Yes, you did," she laughs.
