Takazaki POV:
The next morning, I got ready for school, feeling like something big was going to happen. It was quieter than usual as I walked to the elevator and waited. When it arrived, I found myself sharing the ride with Horikita.
Horikita always looks so perfect, but talking to her can be a bit tricky. The elevator ride felt a little awkward, probably because it was so early and barely anyone else was around.
As we got out, she suddenly said my name, "Takazaki-kun?" I was surprised she wanted to talk."Uh, yeah? What's up, Horikita-San?" I tried to act cool, even though I wasn't sure why she was talking to me now.
She hesitated, a rare vulnerability peeking through her composed exterior. "I've been thinking over the suggestion you made," she began, her words measured, revealing a depth of consideration I hadn't anticipated. "After much thought, I believe it's time we put your plan into action."
Her acknowledgment of my earlier suggestions, those concerning the school's clandestine activities, took me by surprise.
"Are you referring to our discussion about the school's secrets?" I probed, seeking clarity.
"Yes, precisely. You mentioned engaging our classmates in it," she confirmed, her resolve clear.
"But, why the change of heart? Initially, you seemed reluctant to involve others," I questioned, intrigued by her newfound openness to collaboration.
"The matter has grown too significant to ignore. If there's any truth to our suspicions, it's crucial that our class stands united, prepared for whatever lies ahead. Isolation will only serve to weaken us," she explained, her rationale resonating with a sense of urgency I hadn't fully appreciated until now.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Was Horikita actually worried about our classmates?
"Your sudden concern for our classmates is... surprising," I remarked jokingly, unable to hide my astonishment.
"Don't get the wrong idea. This is for my own good, not just for them," she quickly said, making things clear. I nodded, acknowledging her clarification.
"Understood. Though, I wish you'd come to this realization sooner."
Her inquiry, sharp and direct, cut through the morning air. "And why is that?"
"It's just that... Well, I might have already told someone else about our plan," I admitted, feeling a bit guilty.
"Without consulting me? Who did you speak to? Kushida-san?" Her suspicion was palpable, a testament to the delicate nature of our undertaking.
"No, not Kushida-san. I thought this person could be trusted, so I went ahead and told them," I explained.
Her sigh, though heavy with resignation, carried a hint of understanding.
"Given our situation, perhaps this was inevitable."
"Moreover, I've implicated you in this as well, inadvertently assuming your agreement," I added, wary of her response.
