Case Name - Made My Heart Surrender

Roslyn by Bon Iver, St. Vincent played softly in the background. Wisps of smoke hung in the air as the two individuals passed a half smoked cigar wrap between them. The smell of pungent lemon filled the room, exiting out of the opened window. The lights were dim, setting the atmosphere for a relaxing evening. Except for one of the individuals, it wasn't.

"Why are you still talkin to him, Lorr?"  Bobby-Lynne asked.

"I don't know."

"Yes you do, there has to be a reason why."

The woman chewed on her bottom lip, her fingers holding the blunt in between her index and thumb. The effects were already clinging to her body but she didn't care to take another big drag, if only to keep from answering. Bobby-Lynne decided to keep talking.

"And what about Y/n? Didn't you both figure your mess out after the campin trip?"

Lorraine ended up hacking up the smoke she inhaled, letting it fill her lungs at first before it came out in fits of coughs. Bobby-Lynne just watched, face irritated.

Once she wasn't dying anymore, Lorraine handed the blunt back to her best friend.

"She wanted to hold off on it until after her classes and exams. And she's only got three weeks left." Lorraine said, still coughing a bit. Her accent was thick in between each word.

"Does she know you're still talkin to RJ?"

"Of course." Lorraine defended. "I won't lie to her and I've already told her that I don't care for RJ like that anymore."

"And she believed you?"

Lorraine gives the other woman a deadpan look at the accusation in Bobby's tone before nodding her head. Then she sighs and looks away from the woman's piercing gaze. She really was too pretty for her own good. It caused Lorraine to gay panic the first time she ever met her.

"I'm sure he meant well... but RJ was just.... Not it. He didn't get hit with the ugly stick he got whopped with the whole forest!"

Bobby-Lynn was always for looks when it came to partners. And she told Lorraine that she could do better.

"You both were each other's firsts for a lot of things, but you didn't work out. Can't you let that go, Lorraine?"

She had no answer to that. She felt shitty because she and Y/n were supposed to figure their own stuff out when she came back.

"Honestly, I want to but- ..I feel guilty. Like I was leading him on or something. And I've told him I just wanted to be friends."

"So then what's the problem? Because your tone of voice sounds like something's wrong."

Lorraine clenched her jaw shut as she looked down to her lap and shrugged. "He can't seem to take the hint I guess."

"Then maybe it's time to cut him off. Delete his number and ghost him." Bobby-Lynn said with a shrug. "C'mon Lorr, the man was so cheap that he wouldn't give a nickel to see Jesus ridin a bicycle. You had to pay for everything!"

Lorraine twisted her head to face Bobby and glared at her. They had a staring contest before she snatched the blunt from the other woman.

"I offered to pay most of the time. And ghosting him will just make me feel even more guilty."
