Title Name - You Got My Head Spinning (pt2)

Honestly, Mabel was a big help that night. She knew what she was doing and she knew how to work around rowdy customers. Man or woman. She just had that charm about her. A charm that didn't go away, I see. It was the same charm that she used to wrangle me with. The charm? A pretty dimpled smile paired with those pretty brown eyes that could make even a god fall to his knees.

Not to mention how sugary sweet her words were when she spoke to others. She had almost everyone eating out of the palm of her hands.

While Callie took care of her regulars, Mabel took on new patrons. And she zipped behind the bar like she was made for this job. It not only impressed the customers but also Callie and, dare I say it, even myself.

"I think boss man did well with this one." Callie had said to me during a time we had settled down enough for us to take a small break.

I had been leaning against the door frame that led to the office and breakroom with my arms crossed. Callie stood next to me with a beer bottle in her hand. We watched as Mabel leaned over the counter, pushed up on her tiptoes so she could reach, and looked at something a girl was showing her on her phone. She was interacting with the customers the same way Callie or even myself would.

"She's going to be a fan favorite for sure,"

I had already known that when I saw that Mabel was the new hire. But I didn't want to say anything. Callie still doesn't know my connection to Mabel. She did ask what that was about when I practically dragged the girl to the back. But I waved it off as an interrogation. I knew she didn't believe me but she knows when not to push either. So she left it at that.

When Mabel was done entertaining the woman, she walked away from the bar and right up to me with a smirk on her face.

"I've got three phone numbers and two snap accounts."

My right eyebrow flicks up as I smile slowly. Arms still crossed tightly over my chest.

"Oh yeah?" I say.

Mabel takes a step closer to me but I take one back.

"Hmm. Distance at the workplace, Mai."

When my nickname for her slips I see the hurt from when I stepped away from her drop into something softer.

"I'm sorry, I forgot where I was." She looks to the left then down to her boots. She knew exactly what she was doing. I just chuckle and shake my head at her.

"You're doing a great job. Keep it up and I'll let the boss man know we've got ourselves a keeper." I say with a gentle pat on her shoulder.

That's all I needed to say for Mabel to give me the biggest smile since seeing her again. That smile could really break hearts or mend them. In my case, she was mending it.

"Mabel! I wanna show you something!" Callie called out over the loud thumping of the music.

Mabel turns from me and walks to Callie without another word. I watch as she goes.

"Excuse me,"

My attention gets pulled from the girls by a customer and I notice that it was the man from earlier. I push off the frame as my arms unfold and make my way over to him with a smile.

"Yes sir?"

"I'd like to tab out." He said with a smile. To me he seemed sober. Even though he had five shots and ten beers.
