CHAPTER THREE
HARRY'S POV
"Hey, did you hear what he said?" She spoke to me. I turned my head from my view out the window to the girl beside me. "What?" I questioned, dumbfounded. "Do page 12." She informed me. She didn't have to tell me that, I'm not doing it anyways. Again, I ignored her returning my gaze to the window. "Are you okay?" She blurted out suddenly. "I'm never okay." Answering coldy at her. "You seemed fine this morning. You were nice actually. What happe-"
"That wasn't me."
"Of course that was. You're name's Ed right?"
"I'm not Ed. Don't call me Ed."
"But I can't be mistaken, you-"
"Shut your mouth. I am not Ed. Do you understand?" My temper taking over me again as I looked into her eyes intensely. This girl was getting to my nerves. I hate when people call me Ed. I'm far from being Ed. He's this evil dumbass who gets all the credit from things I do. He's this selfish piece of shit. Liar, fake, heartless. He doesn't care about anyone except for himself. He couldn't care less if I die. Yet after all that he is, I'm the one being hated. No one knows the truth about Ed.
"O-okay." She stuttered, her voice can barely be heard.
---------------------------
Lunch bell finally rang. Quickly, I headed out of the building, satisfied to be outside getting all the fresh air I needed. I had the whole lunch hour to myself. Skipping lunch and not eating was normal for me so I settled down on the stairs of the entrance, staring at nothing in particular. When I heard men voices coming towards me, I knew that peaceful silence was soon to be broken by their rants and my grunts. I knew exactly who it was.
Ed and his gang.
I was bound for yet another painful defeat any second now.
DAWN'S POV
Its so hard being the new kid in a school. Not really knowing where to be, who to be with, and what to do. I find looking for a seat in the cafeteria at lunch, one of the hardest things on your first day of school. I didn't want to feel left out, but I did. Instead of joining a table group, I decided to just eat outside where its peaceful and quiet. As I neared the exit, commotions filled my ears.
"Wrong choice, brother. You shouldn't have done that to me this morning."
"Let's get this done now shall we?"
I heard kicking and punching sounds followed by men laughing. I hid behind a bush, carefull not to make a sound, as I watched the action. I couldn't quite see the people who were beating this guy up, but the guy being beated up looked familiar. That mop of curls now laid on the ground. It was that stubborn boy in biology class. I couldn't take this, I need to do something. This is crazy and risky, but I will surely feel guitly if that beated up guy ended up in the hospital and I didn't even do anything to stop the beating.
"Hey! What are you guys doing?! Stop it or I'll call the teachers!" I yelled, startling them as they hastily sprinted away from my sight before I even see their faces. I rushed up to Ed. Or whatever the guy that looked like Ed name's was, since he said he wasn't Ed in bio. Kneeling down to his side, I could clearly see how bad he was beaten up. His face had some cuts and bruises. He was still flinching from the pain, good thing he was still concsious. "Ow." I heard him mutter through his bleeding lip. "I-I I'll bring you to the clinic.. Just wait..I'll call for help." I was in panic, what was I supposed to do? I can't carry him. "No." He grumbled holding onto my wrist before I left his side.
"What am I supposed to do? I can't leave you here lying around like this! You're badly beaten up!"
"Just..leave."
"No. I insist."
"You don't want to get in much trouble like I did do you? I suggest you just leave me here and keep you mouth shut about everything you saw. I don't want to go the clinic."
"Then..I'll bring you home, come on. Its not far away."
I helped him up slowly and swung his arm over my shoulder, walking with him at his own pace. I didn't even know why I'm bringing this stranger to my house. But there's something about him that I can't resist. I just can't leave him there.
Luckily, our new house was only a five minute walk from school. We moved only two weeks from now. My mom worked for a company and she got transferred here so we had to move. Currently working at this time of day, I was lucky she was not there or else she'll scold at me for bringing a stranger home.
I sat him down on the couch before rushing to the bathroom for the first aid kit. Gently applying cure to his bruises and cuts, I could feel his eyes burning through me. Silence was the only thing to be heard. I might as well ask him his name, but he beat me to it. "Harry." He simply said. "Dawn Skyes." I copied his tone.
"Why are you doing this? Why are you helping a complete stranger?" He suddenly questioned. Even I don't know actually. Its like there's a part of me that attracts me to him. His eyes met with mine. There's something so mysterious about him. His bluish-green orbs not leaving my sight. "I don't know." I replied honestly. We both shrugged it off of topic. "So, you're really not that Ed guy I met this morning are you?" I asked. "How many times do I have to tell you I am not Ed?" He replied annoyed. "Okay, okay. I'm sorry. Soo are you guys like twins or something?" He simply nodded at me.
HARRY'S POV
She was different. Most girls would be attracted to Ed since he was the 'sweet' and 'kind' one. But her, why is she even near me? Why wasn't she frighten of me? Dawn was probably the only girl in our school brave enough to approach and talk to me, stand up for me, save me, help me clean myself up from the beating. She was after all, the first one to ever see me get beaten up. No one knows about the beating except for Ed, his gang, and I. None in his gang even ever dares to tell anyone about it, they know how Ed can be and what he can do.
"Thank you." I broke the silence between us, she smiled shyly. "Soo who are those guys? Why did they beat you up?" She asked, I stared at anything but her eyes. Her precious brown eyes are so mesmerizing, I could get lost in them and not even realize what I said. I don't think I trust her that much or ready to tell her the truth just yet. "No. I can't. I can't tell you." She looked at me disappointedly. "I need to go," just before I left, I look back to her again, questions in her eyes. "Thank you. Again."
I decided to just skip the afternoon classes as I grabbed a cab heading back to our flat. First day of school amd I'm already skipping classes. I needed to take a break from things. Staring at the passing scenery out the window, I couldn't help but think about Dawn. How innocent she was, helpful, kind and gentle she was. The whole time, Dawn just never left my mind.
