season two, episode fifteen - part two
aka
"MILLION DOLLAR BABIES"
-
I was upset at Courtney for leading me on. If she still had feelings for Duncan, she could have just told me. For all I knew, they might have had things going on between them before or soon after we... kissed. Courtney was on Ducan's back, holding him in a choke hold, and Chris lowered in front of them, holding his ear expectantly.
"Uncle." He groaned out.
"And we have a winner!" Chris announced. Courtney was panting heavily.
"In your face, Duncan!" She cheered, "I am the world champion ball wrestler!" Once she returned to our team, I avoided eye contact, and when she sat somewhat close to me, I scooched down the bleachers away from her, going unnoticed. I decided it was best to avoid her so she could focus on what was happening with Duncan. Next up was a slam dunk competition with Justin and Leshawna, but unfortunately, she scored the point for their team, so we had to do a tiebreaker. Chris drove towards us with a golf cart full of pom-poms.
"Where there are pom-pom's, there are pom-pom girls," Harold said
"The only cheering will be done by you and your team." Chris answered, "Each team's gotta dig deep and create a cheer for someone they think deserves cheering." Our team was trying to devise a plan, and I suggested cheering for Chris; he'll probably pick us to win because he's in love with himself.
"Time! Gaffes up!" Chris said. The team looked unprepared until Leshawna grabbed the pom-poms from his hands swiftly.
"Courtney, Courtney, she's my pal. She loves her PDA, and she's an organized gal!" She cheered. "Lindsay and Justin, they might be dumb, but I'd be so proud if they called me their chum! Heather, Heather, Queen of Mean. She's got a nice scalp for a grooving teen! Duncan and Beth are quite a pair. He's tough; she's goofy, but they both have flair!
Y/N's looks are her strength, but she's also super sweet. I like her style, and her standards hard to meet! (don't make fun of me I can't rhyme for shit) And Harold's the best, he's quite a guy! He's goofy and scrawny, but he's got my eye! Whoo Hoo!" She finished. I was pretty impressed."Yeah! How much heart did that have?" Heather smiled. "I'd like to see the grips beat that!" Soon, we started our routine, just us singing 'Chris' repeatedly and pulling out a giant picture of him.
"Amazing!" He cheered. "The performances, the artistry, the incredible kissing up. We have the winners! Losers, I'll see you in the theatre." Our team celebrated while everyone on the other one looked over at Leshawna.
"Get my bed ready, Leshaniqua. Your trash-talking cousin is coming home." She sighed. I ignored Courtney on the way back to the cabins, sighing as I flopped onto my bed. She wanted to say something to me, but the other campers were in the cabin with us.
"Y/n! What's up?" She smiled, attempting to make conversation.
"Nothing, I guess," I said, bored, and turned to face away from her.
"Are you mad? I'm sorry," she said, and I ignored her. She kept pushing to the point where I was annoyed, so I got up, looking at her disgustedly.
"Stay away from me," I scowled, turning to leave the cabin. She stood there before trying to follow me.
"What is it? Please, Y/n, I'm sorry," She pleaded.
"Just leave me alone!" I snapped. "If you want to be with Duncan so bad, just do it. You don't have to use me as a backup. Am I that useless to you?"
"Nothing is going on with me and Duncan! I only want you, I promise."
"Bullshit. I saw how you looked at him, and you always smile when he makes an annoying comment. I hate you."
"I love you!" She blabbed, staring at me. I stood there silent, not sure what to say.
"Then what's happening with you and Duncan?"
"Nothing! The breakup was recent, and I still have some feelings, but Y/n, you're the only one I want." She gazed deeply into my eyes. "He's a cheater, and you're so... amazing. I won't ever meet someone like you again, and I can't lose you." I looked at her and saw the exact loving look I always do. I'm so stupid; I told her I hated her. Why is she still trying? I thought. How could she not hate me?
"Do you mean it?" I asked
"With every star in the sky as my witness." She smiled. I hugged her tight, and she quickly returned it, melting into me.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have assumed. But please don't leave me for Dustin."
"Never." She said before our lips connected passionately. I wrapped my arms around her and felt her graze her hands along my back. Once we finally pulled apart, I looked at her worried.
"We should probably get back to the cabin..." I said, frowning, and she nodded.
When we got back, the lights were off and everyone was sleeping. We sat down on my bed, holding hands.
"Sorry, I can go-" she started
"No!" I answered quickly. "I mean, you should stay. If you want."
"Of course." she smiled, and we laid down together. I felt her wrap her arms around me and trace shapes into my back. I rested my face in the crook of her neck, giving her soft kisses, and we laid there in each others warmth and silence for a while. We cuddled for the rest of the night while talking about random stuff that came to our mind.
"Courtney?" I said, checking if she was awake.
"Mmm-hmm?" She answered groggily.
"I love you too."
A/n: Short chapter but that was the end of the episode so idk what else to add but please leave suggestions for what I should do with this story for future chapters!
