I took a real quick bathe for the sole reason to watch my Little gazelle cook breakfast in the kitchen. My hair were still damp and messy and I was wearing another one of Rishi's white cotton kurta sets that was at least two sizes small for me. Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas by Kishore Kumar was escaping the radio she kept in the kitchen. She had radios lying everywhere in the house. And I already had radios all over my house for when she'd stay there. As expected, she was standing near the stove, her wavy raven curls bouncing with each movement. I leaned against the counter beside her, watching as she took her anger out on the poor onion and potato fry.
Something shifted inside my chest.
She was glowing.
My beautiful woman.
"Poor vegetables, Little gazelle. Why such aggression towards them ?"
She shot me a glare, suppressing a smile, "Aggression ? Oh please, I'm just showing them who's the boss."
Chuckling, I started setting the washed dishes on the shelves, "Ah, so you're the Queen of this little kingdom ?"
"Absolutely," She replied, stirring the vegetables, "I don't negotiate with the vegetables. I dominate them." Then she turned the stove off with a sigh. That was it. Abandoning the dishes, I walked upto her and turned her so I could look at her. I could look at her for hours and hours and hours and still feel like it wasn't enough.
As I traced the contours of her face, mesmerized by that molten gold that lay beneath her skin like whispers of a thousand sunsets carrying a promise of endless evenings filled with the tender embrace of her presence. She melted into my hand and so did my heart. "What's wrong, baby ?"
That damn smile of hers filled the room with an otherworldly luminosity that left me breathless. "Nothing. Why'd you ask ?"
"That's one."
She looked at me like I just told her I had a harem of twenty thousand ladies.
"What ? How many times have I told you to not lie to me ? Maybe a thousand and you still do."
"I'm not lying."
"Two."
"Kalki !"
"Three."
"You're insufferable."
"Four. And that sounds like it's your problem because you're stuck with me. You and me are forever, Kathavali."
In that moment, her eyes blazed with an intensity that could ignite the heavens themselves. That was right. She was never going to get rid of me. Not in this life, not in the ones that'd come after. She was my everything. My woman. My sanctuary, a sacred ground upon which I would stand guard for as long as I breathed and beyond. Just her existence, her presence, commanded the beast within me, a force that would stop at nothing to defend her. In her, I found solace, obsession, and an insatiable hunger. To love her, to forever bask in the radiance of her light brown skin was all that I needed and more.
"Forever ?"
"And beyond. Tell me, Blush. What's bothering you, baby ? I promise I'll take care of it."
"It's just... I... Don't want you to go. Not only two weeks is hell of a long time without you... I don't have a good feeling about you going to Surat."
Her words reached deep within me, like a gentle current stirring the depths of my emotions. I couldn't help but be moved by the vulnerability she laid bare. My lips curved into an almost proud grin and as my heart fluttered, I whispered, "So you're saying you can't stay away from me, Little gazelle ?"
