She tossed and turned in bed as the clock struck 2:00 a.m. "Love?" he calls out to her, as he gently strokes her hair "Hmm?" she replied, not making eye contact. "Can't sleep?" he asked her, while he continued stroking her hair. "Yeah, it's just that- the voices- in my head- they are so loud" she stuttered, still not making eye contact.
He pulls her in closer into his warm embrace, her head laying on his chest while he gently pats her back comforting her. He lifts her chin up to look into her eyes, "You do know that I'm always there for you right? Let me know whenever you are sad. Even if you don't want to talk about it, I'll be there for you." He says, while she looks at him in absolute admiration and love. "It's really not fair if we laugh together but not cry together, Kay? From now on I hope you tell me everything. Even if you don't, I'll wait until you are ready to let me know." He continues, She gives him a small nod of approval as she slowly starts to tear up, but the only difference is that these tears weren't the tears of sadness, depression, pain, or agony they were tears of joy, tears of love, tears of affection, tears of compassion, tears of tenderness, tears of finally feeling loved. She finally didn't have to ask someone to love her, she didn't have to crave love, she didn't have to be the only one giving love and never receiving it back. She found her love. The love of her life. He was right there in front of her. She felt safe in his arms.
"You are not a burden love. You really aren't. I love you so much more than you could ever imagine. I can never afford to lose you ever. Let's both make a promise, let's stay together. Forever." He says while wiping her tears. He gives her a kiss on the forehead, caressing her while she lays her head on his chest feeling the warmth of love. She listens to the rhythm of his heart as he sings her a lullaby. She nuzzles in feeling safe and comforted, finally letting her eyes close. His words were the sweetest lullaby to her as she slowly drifts into slumber. The voices in her head finally cool down and now all she can hear is the mellifluous voice of the love of her life.
"I love you." he whispered in her ear, she smiled, and whispered back "I love you more." He knew that she was his everything. His love. His comfort. His home. His world. He was glad to realize that he was her everything too. They snuggled up more and drifted off to sleep in each other's arms.
He was the light to her darkness and she was the spark to his light.
