"C'mon Jammy, you gotta wake up!" I whined as I grabbed one of her arms and tugged, "It's Saturday, and you know what that means,"
Jamie was laying face-down in her messy bed, it smelled like old books and fish in her room making the room smell like a rundown sushi shop with a mildew problem. Not the best thing to smell in the mornings.
Jaime snatched her arm away making me stumble back a bit. She turned her head towards me and opened one eye for a second before closing it again.
I grunted with frustration, Jaime promised me that she was coming with me to beach today last Monday. I even recorded it on my phone just in case she denies the agreement. But she wasn't denying the agreement; she was just ignoring it-and me.
"You promised, Jaime. You know how I feel about breaking a promise," I quietly said to her, but she didn't open her eyes again. Disappointment and hurt filled the pit of my stomach as I watched her snuggle deeper beneath her covers.
"Stop calling me 'Jammy'. You're sixteen, not six," Jaime muttered into her pillow, "Take Bridget with you,"
"She already is taking me," Bridget coolly said, she was looking at Jamie's tall book cases across the room, her caramel skin stood out against the dark purples and blues of the room, "and she's taking Lauren and Emma"
"Hey Jamie, rise and shine and smell the bacon!" Lauren crowed as she sat beside Jaime's face and engulfed the piece of bacon she was holding in her hand. In her lap was a large Ziploc bag filled with bacon and sausage. I had a strange feeling that the bag was from my house. I guess my dad wasn't gonna have breakfast this morning.
"Lauren, you better not be eating meat in my room, you know how it makes me sick," Jaime opened both of her eyes this time, she spotted the bag and her light brown face almost turned green, "Take it out. Now," she said through her teeth.
Lauren let out a theatrical grunt, but she got up went to the doorway of Jaime's room. I shook Jaime's shoulder making her snarling face look at me instead of Lauren. I widened my puppy dog eyes and pouted. Jaime just stared at me with sleepy eyes and a tighten jaw, but I wasn't going to give up that easily.
Finally her eyes soften and she sighed. She muttered something under her breath as she slowly got up. My heart exploded with triumph, Jaime is stubborn as an ox and I actually convinced her to do something. Point for me!
"Look Baldwin, I love you to death and I would do many things for you," Jaime paused as she stretched her neck and cracked her shoulder blades. The loud cracking sound made me grimace, but Jaime looked relieved, "But I'm not gonna go down to the beach to get a sunburn while you creep on some boy who doesn't even know you existed,"
Creep. Well that was blow. Was I really creeping on him? No, I'm simply admiring from afar. And I'm pretty he knows my face at least.
"Jamie, come on, I really like this guy and finally after four years I have the courage to talk to him and for real this time. Look at my dress!," I twirled around in a white cotton summer dress, its sides were cut out making it look like I actually have curves "This dress is pure evidence that this time when we go the beach I'll talk to him, I'm legit this time,"
Jaime chuckled, "You're legit?" she shook her head and rubbed her temples, "Oh my god. Look Baldwin, I know you better than that, you're not gonna talk to him,"
"Jaime stop being an ass and just enjoy the sun with us, I'll buy you a one of Dave's veggie burgers with some sweet potato chips if you do," Bridget said as she pulled away the grey curtains from the one large window near Jaime's bed. Jaime hissed at the sunlight then blinked when I took a step back from her.
