CLINK!

I tried to shut my eyes tighter hoping to ignore the sound, but it already woke me up. I didn't want to move, it was probably just a squirrel trying to climb my window again. My eyes slowly opened to look at my phone which was somehow beside my face. I swore I remembered putting it on my drawer before I went to bed. It was two in the morning. I groaned, that stupid squirrel woke me up at two in the morning. I don't have to be up until 6:45!

CLINK!

Suddenly the squirrel didn't sound like a squirrel anymore. Squirrels don't make a clink, do they? I strained my ears to hear once more.

CLINK!

Now I'm sure that didn't sound like a squirrel, it sounded like a rock this time. I sat up and looked at my window; the first name that popped up in my head was Lauren's. Back in middle school and freshman year she used to sneak out of her house and come to mine for a last night snack or because she's bored. She stopped after my dad called her parents multiple times.

I didn't want to get out of bed and go to the window to yell at her. It was so far and it was so late. I fell back onto my pillow hoping she would eventually go away after she throws her fourth rock, she isn't very patient and could easily go to Emma's house that had more food anyway. I shut my eyes again, trying to concentrate on sleeping.

CLINK!

CLINK!

I opened one eye, she still wasn't gone? I grabbed my phone and opened her message thread and texted: stop throwing rocks! go home. NOW. There, now she has to go home now. Man, Lauren isn't a persistent person, this is really weird. Even for Lauren.

CLINK!

"Ok! That's it!" I threw back my blanket and marched over to the window. Halfway across my room I stepped on something sharp and hard. I yelped in pain and grabbed my sore bare foot; I fell back on my butt onto something small and hard. I yelled again as I pulled out the object from under my butt. My eyes were bleary from sleep, but I easily see what it was: a rock.

I frowned, how did it get in here? Was Emma carrying them around again? I thought Bridget already talked to her about that. I looked beyond my feet and crawled towards the small jagged figure on the floor. Another rock, even though I'm amazingly sleepy and everything looks bleary and dark and I can barely keep my eyes again, I really don't remember seeing them here. Am I really this oblivious to things? No, Lauren or Jaime would have said something about it. Something didn't feel right.

I heard my phone buzz underneath my sheets. I held the two rocks in my hand as I grabbed my phone. I saw it was a text from Lauren on my lock screen, with shaking hands I unlocked my phone.

wat r u talking about bj? y did u wake me up like that!

I threw my phone onto my bed. A large lump started to grow in my throat, Lauren wasn't out there. If she wasn't there, then who was? I stared at the rocks, how did they get in here? I started chewing my lip and scratched my head. It probably wasn't Emma because she was in here when I was and I would at least see them then. It couldn't be my dad because he never goes into my room unless he needs to talk to me.

swoosh! CLINK!

The hairs on the back of my neck stood up, my spine stiffened. Why did I just hear swoosh? Suddenly the room became cold and my breathing became quick and short. I looked at the rocks in my hands and everything slowly came together, the rocks, the window, and the clink! Then a rock rolled toward my foot.

Someone was in my room.

"Oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god," I could barely breathe, I had to get out of here. I slowly walked back toward my front door. They could be anywhere in my room, I had to be quiet. Step by step, my shaky legs moved towards my door, couldn't look behind me, I was too scared. What if they already went through my house and killed Laurel and my dad? I choked back a sob, can't think of that right now. I just need to get to that door.
