Emory's POV:
The next morning, I woke up early with a heavy heart. The events of the previous night had left me feeling betrayed and hurt. With determination fueled by anger, I knew I needed to confront Alexa and make it clear that I wanted her out of my life for good.
Taking a deep breath, I braced myself for the difficult conversation ahead and quietly slipped out of bed, making sure Cadence stays asleep. I changed back in last night's clothes and walked towards the villa. There she was, sitting at the kitchen table, a small smirk playing on her lips as if she had won some sort of victory.
I couldn't hold back my emotions any longer. Anger surged through me as I approached her. "Alexa. We need to talk," I said, my voice trembling with a mix of frustration and sadness.
She looked up, a glimmer of arrogance still present in her eyes. "What is it, Emory? Ready to come crawling back to me?" Her words dripped with condescension, digging into my wounds even deeper.
My hands clenched into fists at my sides, trying to keep my composure. "No, Alexa. I'm here to tell you this ends now. Your manipulation and scheming have gone too far. I don't want you in my life anymore."
A mocking laugh escaped her lips, infuriating me further. "Oh, come on, Emory. Don't act like you didn't enjoy our little kiss last night. You're just mad because Cadence saw it."
I felt my blood boil, a surge of adrenaline pulsating through me. "You think I wanted that? You knew exactly what you were doing, using me to hurt Cadence. Well, congratulations, Alexa. You got your moment of satisfaction, but it's over now. I want you to leave me alone."
Her smirk faded, replaced by a mix of shock and anger. "You can't be serious. After everything we've been through, you're just going to throw it all away?"
I shook my head, my voice laced with determination. "What we had wasn't real. It was built on lies, manipulation, and selfishness. I deserve better, and I won't let you continue to poison my life."
Her face twisted with rage as she stood up, getting into my personal space. "You'll regret this, Emory. You'll see what you're missing."
I took a step back, refusing to let her intimidate me any further. "No, Alexa. I won't. Now, please, just leave."
She glared at me for a moment, as if contemplating her next move. Eventually, she stormed past me, muttering something under her breath as she made her way to the door.
As I watched her leave, relief washed over me. It wasn't a pretty scene, but it was necessary. With a heavy sigh, I closed the door behind her, letting go of the negativity she had brought into my life.
I went back towards the guest house but not before grabbing a change of clothes for Cadence and changing into new ones a well.
I slipped back into bed, cuddling Cadence to me. After a peaceful sleep, I woke up to find her awake next to me. Seeing the calmness and love in her eyes, I knew that we had made the right decision to be together again. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders, and I couldn't help but smile.
"Good Morning."
"Good Morning." I replied, sitting up.
As we lay there, basking in the warmth of each other's presence, an idea formed in my mind. It was time to come clean to Nonna.
"So.." Cadence started, intertwining our fingers between us.
I mimicked her, "so..."
"I don't want to go back." She whispered, looking down at our hands.
