Jaide pov
Sitting in the office with an ice pack to my upper cheek, I run my tongue over the clut in my lip wincing when it stings. At least I couldn't taste anymore blood.
Looking up, I hear familiar foot steps indicating they called Brax. Groaning I turn and face him, he comes over and kneels down.
"What happened?" He asks.
I shrug "usual, kids picking on me cause I'm from mangrove"
He shakes his head "how did that end physical?" He asks.
Looking away from him, I glare at the floor. "Jay-" he's cut off by Mrs Howard asking us to come in.
We head inside and sit down. Mrs Howard looks at us, me, worried "Jaide this is the 2nd time you've been in here for fighting this week. I let it go on Tuesday but I can't today. You either need to tell me what's going on, all of what's going on or I'll have to suspend you"
I can feel Brax glaring at me, he didn't know about Tuesday. Sighing "what's the point, the kids won't stop" I snap.
I feel a flick on my leg, my brother shoots me a look. "Jaide, I will deal with them. You need to stop taking things into your own hands" she tells me disappointed.
"I'm sorry, it won't happen again. They said some things and it got under my skin I won't let it happen again" I tell her in a huff.
Her eyebrows raise "as much as I want to believe you Jaide, unfortunately I don't. Please tell me what happened"
Staying quiet, I glare at her. Brax shoots me a look, I ignore him. Mrs Howard sighs "Alright Jaide, if you won't tell me what is really going on then I'm going to have to suspend you for 5 days and you will have in school for another 2 after you come back"
I nod, eyes going down to my lap. Brax says something to her and stands up, I follow him out. We stop into sickbay to drop the icepack off, Joshua, one of the guys that attacked me is in there nursing a broken nose, black eye and a few other cuts.
He shrinks back when he sees me, I can't stop the smirk that comes onto my face. The nurse wishes me a good day and we leave.
When we get into the car, Brax turns to me "you wanna tell me why that kid seemed scared of you?" He asks. I can hear the smirk in his voice.
I shake my head, he sighs "fine, be stubborn. I want your phone, your grounded" he turns the car on, begins driving home.
We get home, out of the car into the house. As we go past my room he holds his hand out, I pass him my phone.
I go into my room shutting the door, I change into one of Brax's old flannels and a pair of shorts. I walk into my bathroom pulling the top up, I grimace at the look of my torso. It was colourful, to say the least.
