This follows right after half breed. A different ending to it and proper apology from Kyle to Jaide at least

Jaide pov

Kyle finally came back into my room after we got home from being in the rain. Knocking on my door, I roll my eyes. "What?" I snap.

He comes in looking a bit sheepish. "I just wanted to check on you. I shouldn't have said what I did. And I'm sorry about that. " I roll my eyes, but don't look up from my phone.

"Jay," he comes over to me, sitting on my bed. He rests a hand on me, but I unintentionally flinch back.

"Ok, whatever. I forgive you. Is that what you wanted?" My eyes snap to his. They're red and puffy. Mine probably look the same.

"Just because we aren't blood related doesn't mean you are my little sister." The comment brings tears to my eyes as I scoff in disbelief.

"Whatever. You can leave now."

"I love you." I let a little humm out of my throat to show I acknowledged what he said. It comes out a bit choked.

He sighs, patting my knee and getting off my bed, walking out the door. There's another knock a few minutes later "Kyle I swear if that's you. I will punch you, I want to be left alone so politely Fuck OFF" I growl.

The door opens revealing Casey "nobt him just me. But I can cob back. " My face softens. He looks and sounds like shit. He's definitely going to get sick from being in the cold for so long.

He's wearing a hoodie. I know I stole from Brax that he's apparently stolen back. "Is that my hoodie?" I ask,  glaring half heartedly at him.

"...... no," It takes him a while to answer that.

"Come here." I open the blanket up for him, and he joins me. I curl up in his arms. "Jesus Case, you're freezing."

"Ib not ma falt ib so cold" I can barely understand him, his nose is blocked cause his words to jumble up a bit.

I roll my eyes. "It's not cold. You're sick. " he makes a huff noise and buries himself under the blanket more and closer to me, trying to soak up the warmth.

I wriggle around to wrap my arm around his shoulder and begin scratching my fingers through his hair like he does with me. It doesn't take long, and he's out like a light.

There's another knock on my door, and Casey flinches. "What?" I snap.

Heath pokes his head in with a glare. "Watch the tone, missy. I was coming to check how you're holding up."

"I'm fine. It's this one that needs checking on. He's got a fever. " I respond back.

"That doesn't surprise me. He already looked a little under the weather when he took off after you," I shake my head.

"I would've been fine,"

Heath shrugs. "You know what he's like with you. Doesn't matter he has to make sure you're OK for himself. "

"So do the rest of you." I raise an eyebrow at him.

"Yeah, well, I was worried. You took off, right as a storm was hitting and got stuck out in the storm. You also threw your other bestie out of the room, which is practically unheard of. Kyle knows he fucked up but you don't have to be an ass to him"

I glare at him, "I will be an ass to him as long as I damn well want. He's not even related to me. "

"Jaide," his tone is on the edge of a growl.

"He made it damn well clear that Casey and I aren't related to him, and since that's the case, he shouldn't have to play nice with us,"

He glares right back at me "if you had heard that entire conversation this wouldn't be happening but you didn't and jumped to conclusions, you would also know he wasn't talking about you, either of you."

"What?" There's complete disbelief in my voice.

"Think about it, Jaide! If he didn't want to play nice with you or Casey, he wouldn't. Or did you forget what an ass he was when he first came to us. If you pull your head out of your ass for a bit and actually talk to him, you'll realise he wasn't even talking about you. "

"Oh,"

"Oh, she says. I came to check on you. It turns out you didn't need it, so I'm going to check on my brother. When you're finished having a hissy fit, you should do the same. " He's glaring daggers at me now.

The door is shut with more force than needed as he walks away. I wriggle my arm out from under Casey and roll over so my backs are facing him. Fucking of course I jumped to conclusions.

There's a snort from behind me, "wherb yob goin Jay?" Casey asks me.

"Check in on Kyle,"

"Hmm, goob," he mumbles before there are snores coming again.

I get out of my bed and head to Kyle's, I can hear him and Heath talking in his room. The door is partially shut. I knock on it and it's opened to show Kyle.

"What do you need Jaide?"

"I, I just wanted to talk to you for a bit. Please" he sighs.

"Yea ok" he finally agrees, Heath leaves the room with a shoulder squeeze to both of us.

Standing to the side he let's me in. I claim the bed as my seat, pulling my legs up under my chin as I lean again the bed head.

He sits on his desk chair and motions for me to start.

"I'm sorry" I finally say "I jumped to conclusions after not hearing the whole conversation and assumed you were talking about Casey an-" Kyle raises his hand to stop me.

"No, you were right. I was, when I first came here I didn't see why I had to play nice with people that dad didn't even mention and I assumed both but you mainly weren't related to us. But when you walked in at the time I was talking about the Barrett's. They're your family as much as we are and we should get along with them for your sake that's what family is meant to do"

"Yes but if you don't like them you shouldn't have to play nice with them" I point out. He shakes his head.

"You're just as much Josh and Andy's sibling as you are to me and they should be allowed to spend time with you and get to know you. I guess I was a bit jealous because it's always been you me and Casey and now it's you me Casey and Josh. Part of me couldn't and didn't want to except that was the new norm."

"We should've made time to hang out with just you though. How about when Case is better we go for a trip, just the three of us. I've been wanting to go to Luna Park and I know the other two won't want to come"

He smiles softly "that sounds great Jay"

I climb out of his bed to climb into his lap for a hug. He squeezes me tightly. I climb back out grabbing his hand "come on. I told Casey I would not be long, you know what he's like when sick. Better not keep him waiting"

He shakes his head with a small smile, allowing me to pull him to his feet and towards my room. When we get there Casey is sitting up with a bucket in his lap.

"You good Case?" I ask.

He lifts his head slightly "peachy" he mumbles. The begins dry heaving again causing me to flinch back. "I hope you feel better but imma go wait in the lounge I think"

There's a pat on my shoulder "go on. It's fine. I'll take care of him. " I let Kyle squeeze my shoulder again before I left the room with a shudder.

The noise isn't so bad but still causes me to flinch every time I hear it. After a few minutes, Kyle comes out with a pair of headphones, and my laptop "figured these would help you," he says, handing them to me.

I put them on immediately, and the noise is gone. We pull up a movie on my laptop, and we curl up together on the couch to watch it, Kyle uses a pair of Bluetooth ones to listen to the movie.

At some point, I fell asleep. When I wake up I'm curled up in Kyle's bed with him, I shift slight and he startles awake "everything ok?"

"I'm fine just shifting" I reply half asleep we move so I'm curled into his chest again and I'm asleep almost instantly when I feel the weight on my cats on me.
