AU: Fae
Warnings: Mentioned angry mob, false accusations of witchcraft (let it be known, Q is not a witch), fear, swearing.
Description:
Quackity wakes up one morning to an angry mob charging for his home, screaming accusations of witchcraft and devil worship. The only thing he's guilty of is tea and a few planted flowers he probably shouldn't have in his garden, all for the sake of a certain visitor he gets on the regular. A devil far worse, and yet far kinder than what the villagers are accusing him of working with. He thinks of pomegranate as he runs for Persephone's circle.
Part 6 of the TNT Duo Bingo!
Author's Notes: Fae Wilbur/Human Q shenanigans!
~~~~~~~~~~~
Quackity's dreams had been plagued with the scent of pomegranate and the sound of the forest king's laughter.
His dreams had been filled with the wild, bright colors of the fae. Filled with giant flowers and trees that would scoop him up and carry him to Persephone's circle of mushrooms where the fae would be waiting for him. Hand outstretched with pomegranate seeds in his palm.
His dreams are overran with flowers and plants, the scents of spring and winter. The fae's crown of flowers and thorns, his bright musical laugh, the fae's all powerful, all consuming wings.
And when he wakes from those dreams he thinks of the flowers he planted in his garden to make his home more welcoming and friendly for him.
He thinks of the honey he mixes into their tea all for his enjoyment.
Quackity thinks he might be going insane. Slowly, but surely.
But at the same time, Persephone had never hurt him. Had never made an attempt to trick him for his name. Has never tried to trap him in a deal or bargain he could never hope to fulfill or repay.
All the monarch had done was visit him. Sit down with him inside his home or stay to talk with him when he was in his garden.
It was nice...having someone to talk to he means. It had been quite some time since he'd had consist, pleasant company.
He supposes that was the curse he faced for isolating himself from the village, moving towards the very border of town and the fae-controlled forest. The villagers thought him insane, and sometimes he questioned if he was insane himself.
But he never could bring himself to regret his decisions when Persephone was around him.
Even if thoughts and memories of the fae had begun to haunt him even in his sleep. Even if his house had started to smell more floral and magic has started to light up his life from the forest king's presence.
Persephone and him had regular tea every few days or so. Give or take. Normally he could tell when the fae would be coming based on the state of the trees. But consistently the monarch showed up three or four days after his last visit.
Sometimes, if he was in his garden and hadn't noticed the fae's approaching presence, Persephone would sit down with him and help him with the plants in his garden. It was always a wonderous experience seeing the other work his magic...watching plants bloom and grow under his touch.
And something about how the other looked at him always made him feel like something was blooming in him too. Emotions he hadn't felt after so so long of being alone.
Persephone brought him so much joy...melted his cold heart in ways he didn't think was possible anymore.
The forest king's smile lit up the room, his laugh made flowers and plants explode with life.
