AU: Superhero/Masquerade
Warnings: Swearing, Quackity is a bunch of red flags and a half but when is that new for him, mentions of alcohol and drinking, Wilbur is a slight bit tipsy, flirting, instinctive birb shit, some slight non consensual touching and kissing but like neither are complaining about it, etc.
Description:
Wilbur hates hero galas.
He hates them even more when his nemesis gets involved.
TNT Duo AU Bingo, 7
Notes: Last part of the bingo. The bingo event ended at the end of August so this one is a bit late for you guys but there will be a part two of this. Still need to write it, but it'll be out. But hey, BINGO! I got bragging rights with this oneshot >:D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wilbur was never fond of the hero galas his family frequented.
For as much as he loved the novelty of dressing up in masks, he did that anyways as a hero. It was all just a fucking excuse for the top rankers to get drunk and have a good time while lesser known and acknowledged heroes like him got shoved to the side.
Which was fine. Really, he wasn't bothered. Let the limelight heroes peacock around for all he cares. It's not like he was going to go out there and dance, his instincts would get all finicky about it.
So, as usual, he was relaxing near the wall of the gala, watching other heroes mingle and dance with each other. He had a drink in his hand, a few snacks in his stomach, and over all he was relaxing.
He hated the galas, he would rather stay home. But if they're going to make him come anyways he might as well make the most of it. And by make the most of it, he means maybe get tipsy enough to properly relax and then find a quiet corner to stay in until it's socially acceptable to go home.
It would be easier if he didn't have to dress formal, but by this point he had ditched the blazer and the tie, so he was lingering in the button up and the dress pants.
He wouldn't budge with his family on the boots though. They are not forcing him to wear dress shoes.
He was carrying his discarded items with him, which was a bit of a hassle. But it would be more of a hassle if he lost them so he just dealt with it.
Eventually though he found himself a chair he could pull over to a corner and toss his blazer over the back. He draped the tie with it, sitting down and sipping from the drink in his hand.
He'll give it another half hour before he leaves. Flying home tipsy might be a little bit of a bad decision but he'd rather chance that than riding back home with his family. His wings always felt cramped in the cars. They weren't built for avians.
...Speaking of...
Wilbur narrowed his eyes at someone he saw weaving through the crowd of dances.
Their posture...that hair...
Oh god fucking damnit, if that's Diamond he's going to lose it.
The (maybe) villain's mask was one that covered one of his eyes and a majority of that side of his face, leaving his other eye exposed as well as the rest of his face exposed. It was enough covering that it would keep the other's identity well hidden but allowed for his expression to be easily visible and readable.
The mask itself was gold with little red diamond patterns under the covered eye.
Oh, there was no way in hell that wasn't Diamond. Smug fucking bastard. How the hell did the shrike avian break in!? You need a hero license or to be accompanied by a hero!
For fucks sake if this means the bastard actually has insider access or a hero in his pocket he's bribing the magpie avian is going to be so fucking smug in that meeting. He totally fucking knew it.
