A/N: Since the beginning of my writing journey I've written in First Person point of views. I think to truly benefit this chapter (and perhaps future chapters) I'm going to attempt writing in Third Person point of view.

A hypocrite.

The single word Maddy couldn't get out of her head. It swam through her mind every minute of every hour of every day. A full month has passed by since she left everything behind. She thought leaving would lessen the pain she was feeling, but that couldn't have been further from the truth.

She started numbing her pain with alcohol, but eventually that stopped being enough...

Then she met Ashley.

Ashley introduced her to something she never imagined herself doing. But it was exactly what she wanted, she was numb; completely. She was finally able to focus on the absolute beauty of the world around her instead of the ugly mess that had become her life.

From that moment on Maddy latched herself to Ashley as much as she could. She became inseparable from the one thing that would become her down fall.

Music pounded in her ears, her body swayed to the beat while bright lights flashed around her. Sweaty bodies knocked into her from all sides, some even grabbing onto her and moving with her.

But this is what she wanted, right?

This is why she left...

Every single night is the same, copious amounts of alcohol and now Molly.

Maddy numbed herself so much that the only time Eddie, or her friends crossed her mind is when she first wakes up in the morning. That quick moment where her mind wakes up before her eyes open, that's where her family lives; where he lives.

She can live in the sunshine that is his smile before the storm clouds roll in and sweep everything away. She can happily live in peaceful bliss before she opens her eyes and realizes that she is all alone.

It's what she wanted.

Right?

A tap on her shoulder had Maddy turning around, meeting the mischievous smile that Ashley always seemed to wear. They moved together while Ashley fished a small plastic bag out of her bra, at least a dozen little colorful pills resting at the dusty bottom. Maddy took the moment to admire Ashley, her beautiful blond hair cascading down her back, her emerald green eyes; she was the embodiment of perfection.

She's what girls envied.

Maddy often watched how men practically threw themselves at Ashley's feet, spewing every praise that came to mind. It made her think of the man that would fall at her feet every chance he got. The man that cherished her as if she was perfection..

Because to him, she was.

"Open." Ashley yelled over the music pulling Maddy's attention back to her. There Ashley stood holding a purple pill in front of her face waiting for her to open her mouth and stick out her tongue.

Maddy smiled and obliged, opening her mouth and sticking out her tongue, Ashley placed the small pill on the middle of her tongue. Maddy relished in the chalky taste that enveloped her taste buds before swallowing the pill.

She watched Ashley swallow her pill and continued to dance while she waited for the effects to kick in.

Her mind drifted yet again to the dark place she tries her hardest to avoid. Eddie. Her friends.. Her mom...
