On a warm, sunny morning, the sky was adorned with a few fluffy, cotton-like clouds that lazily drift across the horizon. The sun radiated its powerful golden energy shimmering through the suburban communities and sidewalks of Salt Lake City in Utah. Flowers of various hues burst forth from the ground, displaying a kaleidoscope of pinks, yellows, purples, and oranges, as they bask in the sun's affectionate rays. People and animals alike seem to be in perfect harmony with the day. Birds soar through the sky with grace, their songs adding a melodic soundtrack to the scenes. The Knoxx family resided peacefully in their two-story house and their only son Elijah Knoxx was up early at 7am like every morning like a typical morning person. He danced along with the choreographers on the TV in his room following their moves as they played S&M song by Rihanna.
Elijah smirked to himself, thoughts buzzing as his feet moved effortlessly across the floor. While everyone else is still dreaming, I'm out here rocking this booty like it's my job. Who needs sleep when the day is already begging to be danced through?
Everything about Elijah was glamorous and exciting. He was a tall 6'3 16-year-old guy who had perfect locks of copper brown hair that almost resembled ginger color, deep ultramarine blue eyes that seemed to hold together the universe with one gaze, and his skin was as flawless as freshly fallen snow. As he was focusing on dancing with the people on TV, his mom knocked on the door.
"Elijah, sweetheart, may I come in?" his mother's warm voice called from behind the door.
"Come on in, Mom. You know I'm not one for rules about knocking." He grinned, catching his breath and pausing the TV.
The door creaked open, revealing Elena Knoxx with an amused smile dancing across her lips. Her son's typical morning routines were a constant in their household, and she wouldn't have it any other way.
"Wow, it's 7 in the morning, and there you are, shaking your body like you're on a dance floor," she said, leaning against the doorframe. "My typical, energetic, goofy boy."
"You know me," Elijah said, his voice laced with playful pride. "I'm not like those moody teens who need a gallon of black coffee just to keep their eyes open on the bus. I'm a morning person, Mom. Up and at 'em, ready to go!"
Elena chuckled, crossing her arms. "You sure are something else. Anyway, I'm about to make breakfast. What's your pick today—waffles or pancakes?"
Elijah's eyes lit up, and he spun dramatically toward her. "Oh, waffles, of course! Drizzled with scrumptious beehive juice and dreamy sour berries. Don't forget to top it all off with some nice cream whipped with whips."
Elena burst into laughter, shaking her head. "You never get tired of these jokes, do you?"
"Mom," Elijah said, clasping his hands together with mock sincerity, "one thing you should know about me is that jokes are me."
She rolled her eyes, still smiling. "Waffles it is, my dear. Keep rocking that booty of yours while I make magic in the kitchen."
When Elijah ate breakfast with his family, his parents and him talked about how things would pan out in this new school year. His 9 year old sister Layla sat beside him as they ate.
Draven took another bite and let out a satisfied sigh. "Yum! These waffles are even better than what they serve at Hub and Spoke Diner, Elena," he said, grinning at his wife.
Elijah laughed, nodding in agreement. "Dad's right, Mom. Those dishes at the diner were never that fresh to begin with."
Layla piped up, her voice light and cheerful. "Yeah, I'm glad we stopped going there too. These are way better!"
