Elijah went to the cafeteria to line up again to ask for a cookie and milk. He approached Yasmine and her friend Jodie while they were fixated on the conversation.
With a slight smirk, Elijah approached their table, interrupting their focus. "Here," he said, his voice smooth, as he set the bag and milk in front of Yasmine. "A cookie and milk for you, Angel. Looks like you didn't eat enough."
Yasmine glanced up, startled, her expression shifting from curiosity to a delicate mixture of shyness and warmth. A faint blush bloomed across her fair complexion, spreading from the base of her neck to her cheeks in soft, rosy hues.
"You need the energy for your other tedious classes," Elijah continued, leaning slightly closer. "Wouldn't want you going home fidgeting and cramming on homework, would we?"
Yasmine's face transformed into a delicate portrait of shyness and blush as she lifted her gaze to meet Elijah's, who was extending a small bag of chocolate chip cookies and a carton of chocolate milk to her. A warm flush of pink gradually crept up from the base of her neck to her cheeks, like the gentle hues of a sunrise. Her skin, which was usually fair and flawless, took on a subtle rosy glow, making her complexion appear even more radiant.
Yasmine hesitated, her fingers lightly brushing the edge of the cookie bag. "Umm, thanks," she murmured "You didn't have to do that, though..."
Her lips twitched into a small, reluctant smile. "I'm not really a fan of the school's lunch. But the cookies, I guess, are slightly better."
Elijah chuckled, his grin widening as he straightened. "Still, food is fuel. No one can focus when they're all hyper and stressed like monkeys in a zoo."
Jodie couldn't help but snicker and laugh.
"See?" Elijah said, his eyes flicking to Jodie with a playful gleam. "Your friend gets it."
"You should take a leaf out of my book, Angel."
He walked away, leaving Yasmine speechless and continuing to blush at the same time. He sat back down with Louis to talk about Yasmine.
"So, dude..." Louis began with a knowing grin. "You actually went over to talk to Yasmine. Did she shoot you down again, or what?"
Elijah's smirk grew wider.
"Hardly," he replied, crossing his arms. "I'd say I finally lit a spark."
Louis tilted his head, skeptical but intrigued. "A spark, huh?"
"She was looking at me with those big, starry eyes," Elijah said, his tone smug. "And her cheeks were all rosy. I think she's starting to fall for my charms."
Louis chuckled, shaking his head. "You're delusional."
"I'm telling you, man," Elijah insisted. "I always knew she had a soft spot for guys who can make her laugh. It's just a matter of time."
Despite Yasmine's attempts to appear nonchalant on the outside, her inner thoughts betrayed her true emotions. Her lips, typically curved in a poised manner, now formed a slight, involuntary smile that tugged at the corners of her mouth. Her small, shy smile revealed her enchantment with Elijah's sweet gesture, which she found difficult to disregard. Inwardly, her thoughts couldn't help but dwell on what he had done for her. The memory of his considerate act lingered, creating a gentle warmth within her heart that she couldn't ignore. Even as she attempted to appear composed and unaffected, her bashful gaze and the gentle, almost wistful smile on her face spoke volumes about the impact of Elijah's thoughtful surprise.
No one's ever cared about whether I've eaten or not, she thought. It was... thoughtful. Sweet. Unexpected.
Despite the rush of emotions stirring inside her, she reminded herself to stay grounded. She cast a sidelong glance toward Elijah, careful not to let her gaze linger too long. But still... she thought, steadying herself. Play it cool, Yasmine. Analyze his actions. Don't get carried away.
