Taiyo, Naruto, and Yamato return from their little talk and see Sakura reading a book.
Taiyo: Whatcha reading Sakura?
Sakura: (Shows them the book) This is Sai's drawing book, come take a look at it
The three go over to her and look through the book, throughout the book there are two young boys who kill their enemies and then take their armor. After killing all of their enemies, the boys face off against each other and in the next page one boy gone while the other is left alone.
Naruto: That black haired kid is Sai, isn't it?
Sakura: You're right and that other boy must be his brother, who died
Taiyo: Damn, that's rough
Yamato: (Stands up) Come on everyone, we have to get to the hideout
Team: Right!
The team set off towards Orochimaru's hideout.
(Outside of the Hideout)
The team had been running for a while now and they soon see someone up ahead, it was another Yamato's wood clone he sent off.
Wood Clone: Hey guys, Orochimaru's hideout is behind a rock
Yamato nods his head and absorbs his clone, he takes a few things from the clone.
Yamato: (Opens his hand) Here
The man hands his team tracking seeds so he could find them if need be.
Yamato: I placed one in Sai's food and one in his clothing, so the clone could track him down
Taiyo: Wow, that's pretty cool
Yamato: (Smiles) Thanks. (Goes through hand-signs) Earth Style: Tunnel Jutsu!
A giant hole opens in ground beneath, Yamato and Sakura go first.
Naruto: (Looks at Taiyo) We're so close to Sasuke, I can feel it
Taiyo: I'm excited to finally see him again after all these years, you ready buddy? (Holds out his fist)
Naruto: (Bumps his fist) With you, always
The duo jump into the hole, the team moves through the tunnel until they encounter a dead end.
Naruto: Come on Taiyo, let's blast this thing!
Taiyo: (Smacks his head) No you idiot, that will alert Orochimaru that we're here
Naruto: (Embarrassed) Oh right, hehhehehehehe
Yamato: Wood Style: Hand Tool Jutsu!
The captain's hand transforms into tree branch and it shaped into a block of wood to open a hole in the wall, the team gets through.
Yamato: (Whispers) Everyone, lower your chakra so we're not noticed
The team moves through the hideout until they see Sai enter a room and lock the door. Yamato uses the Hand Tool Jutsu to make a wooden key to unlock Sai's door, he opens the door and Sai is shocked to see them.
Sai: So you're here
Sakura: That's right and here (she hands him his book)
Sai: (Takes his book gratefully ) Thank you
Taiyo: So what's with the betrayal, man?
Sai: (Sighs) My mission was to keep my true motives a secret, I guess I have failed my mission. I cannot fight all four of you at once so I will tell you my mission. My leader Danzo, sent me to Orochimaru in order to gain control of the village
Taiyo: You do realize Orochimaru tried to destroy the village, right?
Sai: I do not care
Sakura: (Angered) How the hell could you say that?!
Yamato: Calm down, Sakura. Sai is from the Root, a special unit formed by Danzo that utilizes specialized training in order to suppress emotions, the training is very similar to the training used in the Hidden Mist Village
Naruto: That's where Zabuza is from! He told us that his graduation exam involved him killing his classmates to pass
Taiyo: I don't believe emotions can be turned off (snaps his finger) just like that
Sakura: You've got a point, Sai you were very happy when I gave you your book back because it's the only thing that reminds you of your brother that you shared a strong bond with
Sai: (Monotone) I have no bonds and no name, my existence is to serve Lord Danzo. That person you saw in the book was not my real brother, but a fellow Root I grew up with
Yamato: (Realizes) So you killed him, didn't you?
Sai: (Sad) No, I did not kill him, he died of a sickness. This book I have been drawing in was meant to be gift for him, but when he died I had no idea how to finish my book, so I suppressed my personal thoughts
(Later)
Yamato had heard footsteps coming towards their direction, so he instructed his team to get out there and get back outside. When they regrouped outside, Yamato binded Sai with Wood Style.
Naruto: (Looks at Sai) Now with you out of our way, we can finally save Sasuke
Taiyo: The time has finally come, Team 7 is almost back together!
Sai: I'm confused on why you two want to save Sasuke so much, I had met him a short time ago and Sasuke didn't care for you both. Why save someone who doesn't want to be saved?
Taiyo: Sasuke has always been my best friend since childhood and Naruto used to hate him, but since we joined to together and struggled together, we all became best friends. That bond went so deep that we saw him as our brother and we'll do anything to save our brother, someone once told us that we have kind souls and good eyes to penetrate the darkness and save him
Naruto: (Smirks) I couldn't have said better than myself, brother
Taiyo: (Smiles) It's what a I do, brother. Come on Naruto, Sakura, let's go get our buddy back
Naruto and Sakura: Right!
Taiyo: (Looks at Sai) You know, you may think that you suppressed your emotions, but I can tell your heart feels otherwise. (Points to his heart) Listen not with head, but with your heart remember that
Sai: (Nods his head)....
The team head off back into the hideout to find Sasuke.
