2 - Darling
Michael's poor mind and soul couldn't get a break.
Even when he was asleep, his thoughts were full of being confused or worried about his sister. His dreams have become nightmares and they came every night.
It was always the same. He would see Stacey out in the distance off by the edge of a cliff. So he'd run. Michael would run as fast as he could to get to her while screaming out her name.
He knew she could hear him; she'd look at him and smile softly as he got closer and closer. And once he was finally almost to her, she would always say the same thing.
"It's time to let me go, Michael."
And then she would fall backwards into the abyss, never to be seen again.
And then Michael would wake up gasping, desperately trying to grasp onto his falling sister which would only end up being grasping onto his blanket.
And this morning was the same. He woke up with the same panic and worry, but this time he woke up in an unknown bed.
His eyes narrowed at his surroundings in confusion. Where was he?
He was in a large bed that was covered in black sheets and heavy blankets. It reminded him of Victorian times furniture.
He hesitantly got out of bed, instantly tracing back onto his previous day. And that's when he remember being in the woods and having a mental breakdown.
Did someone find me and bring me to shelter? His positive attitude thought.
Did someone find me and capture me for themselves? His negative attitude thought.
There was only one way to find out, even though he was scared to the point of his hands shaking. He crossed the room, grabbing the door handle and opening the surface.
The rest of the house matched the bedroom's aesthetic. It was more old timey with Victorian architecture and furniture.
The house seemed to be large and it was brightly lit up with candles and old lights, but Michael couldn't hear anyone. So he continued his way throughout the house, thinking he was alone. As he kept venturing down the halls and down the stairs, he for some reason started to feel more comfortable and relaxed.
He felt...strangely at home.
"Welcome."
Michael jumped once he heard a sudden voice, making him turn around with widened eyes when he saw a man standing only a mere five feet away from him. How did Michael not hear him?
"What's your name?" The man asked.
Michael didn't move from where he stood, even when the man stepped even closer to him.
"...Michael."
"Michael." The way his name rolled off the man's tongue seemed so effortless and elegant. There was some kind of...perfection to this man, "I'm Ashton. I found you in the middle of the woods last night."
"What were you doing in the middle of the woods during the night?" Michael asked confused.
"I could ask you the same thing." The man quirked an eyebrow and gave him a small grin. This made Michael break, cracking his own small grin.
"Um...so you found me? And brought me here?" Michael asked, looking around the living room they were stood inside.
"Yes."
Michael looked back at the man, who's eyes were still glued right onto him. The intense stare made Michael's heart increase and Michael swore he saw Ashton's eyes latch onto his heart for a split second before looking back into his green eyes.
"Why are you nervous?"
How would he know?
But a new voice cut Michael off from his confused thoughts.
"Ashton...who is this?"
Michael looked to his left, seeing two confused men entering the room. The way they walked also seemed so...perfect. It was hard to explain, but the men seemed so put together. Their actions seemed so effortless that it almost looked fake. Like they were in a movie.
"I found him in the middle of the woods last night." Was all Ashton had to say, keeping his eyes on the mortal.
There was something to this mere mortal and Ashton was trying to figure out what it was.
"What are you doing with him?" The brunette man asked, making Michael's eyes narrow at him.
"I'm not a dog. You can't just do something to me. I'm my own person."
The blonde man chuckled entertained, "What a well-put together huma—man you brought home."
"What time is it?" Michael suddenly asked, feeling for his phone in his pockets. But he didn't find it.
"It's 10 in the morning." Ashton answered.
"Did you bring my phone when you found me?"
"No."
Michael sighed, "Oh great."
"I can help you look for it."
"Oh...It's okay. You've already done a lot for me." He gave the man an appreciative smile.
"I'll come with you then." The blonde man said.
"Luke." Ashton gave this Luke a certain look. One that Michael couldn't pinpoint.
"What? I'm just going to help him out. I don't bite now do I?"
Michael hesitantly nodded his head yes, accepting Luke's offer.
"Thank you, Ashton. I probably would have froze out there."
"No problem, darling."
