(good luck with this chapter everyone, im sorry in advance)
Ats was dead.
He got shanked up and left in a skip. Stefan was heartbroken. Amma was heartbroken. Everybody was heartbroken, to be honest. Ats was only 14, he was a baby. He hadn't even done his gcse options yet. He had hardly been through puberty. He hadn't lived enough to die. Even though I didn't know him very well, he was still my younger and his death saddened me.
When I left my flat, I saw that there were already investigators at the scene. The skip had been boarded off with police tape, a police van was there and the three youngers that I met at the bando, Bradders, Samsi, and Rowmando, were being spoken to.
As I was walking past, the officer called me for my attention. "Excuse me?" He said and I stopped in my tracks.
"Yeah?" I asked, confused. My hands were shoved in my pockets and I glanced at the three youngers.
"Do you mind if I ask you a couple questions about what happened here?" The officer asked me and I kissed my teeth, "We're trying to get to the bottom of this case and would be grateful if you complied,"
I huffed, "I only met him three times," I said, truthfully, "Last time I saw him was when I was picking my boyfriend's brother up from school,"
"When was that?" The officer asked and I thought for a second.
"Like, two days before he went missing," I said, "I didn't chat to him, I just saw him,"
"Alright," The officer said, "Name?"
"Femi Williams," I said and he scribbled something down on his notepad, "Is that all? I have places to be," I said, impatiently.
"No, I have a couple more—" The officer spoke but I cut him off.
"Say nothin', in a bit," I said and walked off. I heard Samsi laugh and the officer tried to call after me but I ignored him.
I went to Jamie's flat. I wanted to check up on Stefan. I jogged up the stairs of his block and knocked on the door. "It's Femi," I called and Jamie answered the door almost immediately, "Hey," I breathed and he smiled.
He put his arm around me, bringing me into the flat. He looked left and right in the hall before shutting the door. "You alright?" I asked him, rubbing his back as we walked inside the flat.
"Mm," He mumbled, "I'm calm, just a bit shocked is all," He leaned over and gave me a small kiss on the lips.
"Where's Stef?" I asked, catching sight of the boy's empty bedroom.
"Gone out," He said, "Needed some fresh air,"
"A'ight," I mumbled and we went into the kitchen. "How's he doing?"
Jamie sighed, "Not good," He said, "He's taking it real bad," He said and I sighed. He was in the middle of making himself tea, he got out another mug for me and then clicked the kettle on to boil.
"I need to show you something," He said and got out his phone. I hopped up on the kitchen counter and shuffled closer to him. He opened a blurry photo of a girl up on his phone.
"Who's that?" I asked, squinting at the image.
"You don't know her?" He asked, looking at me.
I shook my head, "Nah, who's that?" I asked again, "Is she your ex or something?"
Jamie looked at me and kissed his teeth, "No!" He said, as if he was offended, making me laugh, "It's important that if you see her, you tell me, immediately." He said. My phone pinged as he sent me the picture.
