As Venus chiseled the last brick of the cold, muddy catacombs, she laid her talons in the bricks beneath her. The LeafWing tribrid smiled to herself, satisfied by her work.
She trotted through the dark, damp caves that she pieced together throughout her years on Pyrrhia. Taking one last look at her work, she shot down the halls, racing her way to the cliff edge on top of her garden. She skidded on the ground, finally stopping a few feet away from the cliff ledge.
The golden morning light was gleaming over the MudWing village that Venus watches over. She could see her breath, billowing out in a little cloud in front of her. She could see all the dragonets coming out of their homes to fulfill their duties. Ever since Venus came to Pyrrhia, she had made her home on this little cliff, overlooking a small MudWing village.
She had spent so much time here, in fact, that she thought of this place as her family. Her home. A small tear fell on the ground. The thought of home saddened her. Changing the subject, a family that she had been observing for almost her entire life, but nonetheless.
She had taken particular notice of a SeaWing, with dark navy blue tones, always squabbling with tiny MudWing dragonets. She always saw a flare in her, slowly boiling up in her. Venus had seen this one too many times, in village folk who had always had that "flare" in them, building up until they broke, and went rogue. But with this child, she suspected her to break in a different way: for her to snap in a darker, more twisted way. Venus humored the thought of this dragonet to one day, maybe, help her destroy Pyrrhia.
Venus sighed. "This is useless."
Her sight-seeing over the village was boring her, so she picked herself up from the ledge and trotted over to the catacomb entrance.
The entrance let out a cool, musty air from the mud that it was built from. Small stalactites hung from the roof of the halls, some dripping with water. Venus had spent her time digging out a new base after the one she had been using previously had collapsed. She had been digging, and she found a catacomb full of bones; mostly MudWing bones.
Venus picked her speed up with a sprint and came to a narrow spiral staircase, leading outside. She followed it to her garden.
The scent of shrubs and flower bushes flooding her senses; they were from a previous visit to Pantala. They surrounded the complicated garden, scents of the jungle in the air from the various fruits growing. Right in front of Venus was the dangerous plant that nearly took over the world: the breath of evil. It had taken her years, many years, to find. She had to get through thick jungles–which she was used to, after growing up in the Rainforest Kingdom for the first three years of her life–just to get to the area where it grows.
Soon the world will be mine....
